Nice and easy course. Missed a video operations overview, like the one for photography. Other than that great value!
I've gone through several of the lessons and have to say I've already learned things I didn't know or found out I was using features in the wrong way, i.e. S-AF M vs S-AF, now I know. One thing I wanted to say that may or may not already have been brought to your attention John. In one of your lessons someone asked if there was a way to delete more than one image at a time and you felt that there wasn't a way. I use the following method... in the grid view I select those images I want to erase and once I've selected all I want to delete I simply hit the delete button. I hope that makes sense. Great job in the lessons and I have to say I love my Olympus!!
John's the man. I'm only four lessons in and already congratulating myself on such a good purchase. He presents the information is such a clear, concise and professional manner. This class was something I've needed to take for a long time.
Fantastic Course I learned so much from John
I had previously purchased the Fast Start for the earlier OM-D E-M5 model and found it invaluable. I was lucky to catch this E-M5 Mark II Fast Start when it was live and had my camera set up beautifully - until I updated the firmware recently and discovered how uncooperative the camera can be in the absence of the combination of settings recommended by John. So I bought the course, which enabled me to restore the camera to the optimal settings and gave me may "Aha" and light-bulb moments about things I'd forgotten or not understood the first time around. I am glad I now have this course so I can revisit it as needed. NOTE: There IS an option to save settings to the PC before updating firmware. I will be doing that in future!
Very nice, sharp and neat quick start to the om-d e-m5 II camera. Since it was my first Olympus camera, the course really got me started with it. Thanks a lot!
I bought an Olympus OMD E-M5 Mark ii about 6 months ago and just got so confused with the set up and all the sub menus.. but ive now watched this classes twice and feel really confidante in my use of the camera and all its setting.. so confidante i did a practice newborn shoot with it. amazing class, so a BIG THUMBS up to John Greengo
I've had my E-M5 Mii for over a year. The manual for the camera, though useful, is tedious. John Greengo's Fast Start class is just what I needed to understand all those options. His hand outs are a big help, especially the one summarizing all the menu options. I still forget some of option purposes but I can easily refer to the specific setting in John's course. Thanks John for your course organization.
I have had my EM-5 Mark II for 6 months and really only felt comfortable with it after taking Greengo's class. Easy to follow and a big help. Thanks John
The December 12th review is completely wrong, I have literally never used an Olympus camera, nor any other type of camera besides a point and shoot coolpix that my wife has, and I was able to follow this video very well, track along in my camera as he demonstrated, and I feel as though I can compose a shot decently well for a beginner, and have even taken several photos that rival some of my more experienced friends. The camera is great, Greengo did a perfect job of balancing what an expert may see as an oversimplification, but a beginner or intermediate will find as invaluable... Thanks Mr. Greengo, you helped make my first foray into photography more enjoyable and productive.
I watched most of the live broadcast and just finished going through all of the modules with my camera. I learned so much!! My camera is customized to my preferences and I am now very comfortable shooting in M mode. My picture quality has already improved. John is an excellent instructor.
John Greengo presents the workings of a complex camera in a way that's simple to follow & understand - without dummying it down. Yes, you can read the manual for the camera. And should. But there's no substitute for having someone as knowledgeable and conscientious as John show you what the dry words in the manual mean through demos, clear explanations and image examples. John also goes beyond the manual to explain which settings work in what situations and why you'd consider using them. A device manual won't do that. It just says how to make a setting. The E-M5 Mark II is too sophisticated (and expensive!) a camera to use as a point-and-shoot. I highly recommend purchasing this class to make sure you're getting the most out of your Oly investment!
Excellent course. John's ability to patiently and throughly cover all elements of this detailed camera is impressive. He converts the stress level of learning a new camera to a fun level.
Great course! Learned a lot of things I didn't know, even though I like to think I know a lot about Olympus cameras. I can highly recommend this course to anyone who has bought the E0M5 MKII. I will tell everyone I know!
