Olympus OM-D EM-5 Fast Start with John Greengo

I have an OMD-EM10, and found this an excellent, and extremely thorough, review of all the options available in this camera. although the class is designed for the EM-5, the controls are almost identical. The discussions and questions were also extremely helpful.

Perfect for what i needed. I am experienced, used to teach photography years ago so heavily "manual" and man, the manual was overwhelming. Now I should be all set. Thanks very much: well done and excellent value.

Thanks John Good clear instruction. I will watch a few times and practice. I've also purchased the mark 11 camera with pro lens. I'm due to leave for a trip to Greece and Istanbul with my new camera. Then I was overwhelmed trying to figure it out. this has helped a lot. I'm hoping to love this camera. I want to shoot video too. I'm hoping you do a Mark 11 course with video and shooting in low light. Many thanks you have saved the day...

I bought a new OM-D EM-5 on clearance at the end of the cycle. Having always been a Panasonic user, I found the menu system and buttons on the E-M5 confounding, to say the least. I loved this course with John Greengo. He's a gifted teacher and he made every detail of the camera clear and easy to understand. In the end, though, I wasn't convinced on the camera. I just found it clunky and slow to use. The lack of function buttons, plus the buttons it does have are just not a smooth and simple touch. When I read the reviews of the new EM-5 Mark II, I decided to take the Mark I back and get the Mark II. Far superior camera in handling, video and stability. Now I'm hoping John will produce a tutorial for the EM-5 Mark II. Soon. In the meantime, I'm hooked on John Greengo and will be on the lookout for whatever he next presents. Thanks to John and cL!

I have the OM-D E-M10. There are very few differences to the E-M5 so I was able to follow along easily! Excellent class! I especially like the format of how all of the classes are presented on the website. My decision to purchase the class was based on the free sample I was able to view. I immediately got the sense that John's teaching style was compatible to my learning style. I learned a lot about my camera and I'm continuing to learn! Yesterday I was going to purchase an automatic shutter release cable but discovered that it's not necessary on the E-M101 Since it has a wireless feature, there is an Olympus app which allows you to take a shot remotely from your smartphone with a live view! So cool!

I just bought the camera kit and the 17 / 1.8 lens. Went right to a trip to Europe, got home and than downloaded and took this class... Wish I had went through this prior to my trip, better late than never. ps... I sure do like the camera!

Excellent, excellent class. Just purchased the camera yesterday and the class gave me a fantastic start. Much better than I could have done in any other fashion. Having someone actually show you the inner workings of the camera and the complicated menu system is the way to go without question! The handout materials were a good method of taking notes and for future reference material. Thank you, John!

It would be great it John Greengo could run a class on how to use the macro on the 12-50mm lense for the Olympus OM- D EM-5.

Thank you very much for explaining the Olympus OMD 5 Camera then the functions in plain english. I was so frustrated when I paid $730.00 for my teacher to say 'Read your manual. I'm a Nikon user' I learnt more about my camera and their functions via creative Live with John Grengo. Thank you thank you!!!!!!

Thank you! - at last after spending many frustrating hours with the manual with little result I am feeling confident with this camera I changed my Canon film SLR for an early digital and forgot many of the skills over the years This camera is wonderful for my needs but before your course I was not using it to its potential and much of it confused me Your presentation was clear and logical and suitable for all levels of users I have purchased your course and I know I will revisit it often I highly recommend this course - looking forward to learning more from you in the future

Very good course. I have owned this camera for about a year and stuck doggedly to 'Auto'. While it took great pictures I now know what I was missing out on. I bought this camera in late 2013, and have been playing around with it for quite a while, not fully understanding the details of the operations because reading the short manual does not help much; I took this class almost as an after thought. I think this class is for everyone who seriously wants to be proficient with this camera. Mr. Greengo is a good instructor, very clear, to the point, and informative. I highly recommed this class to whomever owns an Olympus omd em-5.

Attending this course was time well spent. The material presented, context, and guidance I feel have fast tracked me to getting a lot more out of my EM-5 than hours of trial and error and slogging through user guides. I mostly shoot legacy lenses and now have a crisp enough understanding of EM-5 config options, what they do, and how to access them to craft an optimal setup. In addition, the printable collateral/cheat sheet is hugely beneficial and is going into my camera bag for quick reference.

I would recommend the course, I found it very informative, it doesn't answer every question but almost all.

I'd already purchased the camera and have only ever used auto mode for any camera. I was having trouble understanding the instructions that came with the camera and so googled to find help. Came across this course and well its the best thing I did. IT was easy to understand, very thorough and easy to listen too. Can rewind and keep going back to to the video for review, so much better than going to a camera shop course at triple the price and forgetting most of it by the time I get home. Pretty darn good. This course, is what you should get from Olympus. If you have the OM-D EM-5 you can almost certainly learn something about the camera here. Recommended.

I found the course well-presented, thorough and entertaining. I plan to use the Hexanon lenses from my Konica SLR with the OM-D EM-5 -- I've purchased an adapter. Please recommend a set of settings for the OM-D EM-5 to use with these Hexanon lenses. Thank you ... Denis
