Capturing Authentic Photos of Children & Families with Chris Orwig

Oh my word! I am a family photographer and have been shooting for a few years, the class was on sale, I read the reviews which were good and I thought, "For $8 dollars it's not really a train smash if it's not a great class."Let me tell you I'm not even halfway through this class and already have learned so many things and picked up some very useful tips. Chris is a beautiful soul and what a generous and lovely teacher, mentor. This class is a steal whether you pay full price or not. If you're on the fence, jump off and go buy this class already.

I am loving this course so far! However, I am not seeing a link to get the guide he is talking about so that I can work along with his lecture. I do see a link for his pricing guide. Thank you!

I felt compelled to write a review on this course. Chris is very consistent in his delivery throughout the course. One thing that stood out to me is his ability to not get caught up in the technical elements. It is a lesson I am trying to take with me into my photographic career. He works without a flash or an assistant. He spends about five minutes on camera settings and even at that, they are guidelines. Very refreshing. Obvious for family photography, focus on the family, bravo! I also deeply appreciate his obvious priority of giving attention to the spirit in people, connecting with it, and to document it with the camera with minimal distraction. If you are looking for "Set your iso to blablabla, then make sure your blablabla camera settings blabla" then this will surely disappoint. If you are focused on taking good pictures that people will enjoy. Then carry on and buy it.

I learned so much from this class. Chris shares the whole journey so you don't see just the perfect pictures but the process of getting there. For someone starting out (like me) this is so helpful and inspiring. This class also helped me realize everything else that needs to be done - aside from taking the photos - to get a photography business up and running.

This class is a a ridiculous value and one of my favorites that I've purchased. Chris is a great instructor who has lots of genuine insight that I learned a lot from. Highly recommended.

Chris is the perfect combination of extremely knowledgeable, highly professional, excellent teaching skills, and soul. And someone you just want to hang out and talk about life with. Sadly too rare, but lucky for us he has several courses. Keep it coming!

Very simple and effective tips and guidance! Goes through the the whole gamut of gear, to location scouting, and interacting with the subject family.

I am not a people person, but I know that I need to do people picture taking to make a living with photography. After watching Chris I am so excited... I know I can do this! I really enjoy Chris' down-to-earth approach to family photography. He packed a ton of information into this course including equipment, pre-session planning, site scouting, communicating with the kids and parents, technical considerations, finding and using light, marketing, turning your passion for photography into profit, post-processing, etc. The bonus material is very useful, and I'm sure it will become part of my field photography kit. His love of family and people permeates everything he does and drives his photographic vision, and I hope to be able to incorporate many of his techniques into my work.

Chris is a FANTASTIC teacher (and photographer). He is so very very authentic, warm, REAL, talented, knowledgeable, honest, open and true to his wonderful self. This class, in addition to endless nuggets of knowledge and insights, highlights how being true to your own self makes you a better photographer- emphasizing connection, authenticity, fun and easy relaxed simple joy. I had not intended to watch this class because I thought I had gone as far as I wished to go with understanding how to get good portraits and family event photos. But something made me tune in and I have been sitting, mesmerized. Having Chris talk through his decisions and seeing the video of the family on the beach session is priceless in value to photographers! Waiting through the break right now, but no, I will not be taking a break myself because I want to keep watching the second it comes back on air!
