Boudoir Photography Q&A

So maybe we can do some final questions for a few minutes and then you guys can go ahead with your final closing thoughts. So do we have any any more questions about the business side? Yeah, go ahead question came back to me. Thank you again. Uh thank you for your time and your expertise. This is amazing information of from opposing standpoint sounds like you're you're the goal or the aim is mostly curves and creating triangles in that but the bigger question that I had that I was probably previously goingto ask was the process the back end of this and I know that can you talk a little bit about how your company handles those images and processing? Because I do know in the industry a lot of times most some photographers do a shoot or capture the image and then transfer the image off outside of their control for fourth act you can talk a little bit about that. Yes, so we've had the same editor we actually was actually a coop student from the local college and we've had her for half a de...

cade probably s oh I sat with her for almost a year on dh just sat with her editing with me she gets it probably to ninety percent of what I wanted to be and then I make it I go through and make them look exactly how I want them to be we use an online proofing system if you're doing that it's really important as well that you make sure you're working with somebody who has a privacy clause in it and make sure your album companies have privacy clause is because you don't know where the photos were going to end up if you're just sending them to somewhere online side note story walmart but if you put the if you give your client's digital files and you put them into the little machines at wal mart, you actually have to sign over the rights to let them use the photos wherever they want to. So make sure you're always telling your clients that helpful myrtle sue me, but that they can't do that because you have no idea where the photos are going to end up at that point. Grab the mike here, but I'll take one from from online. Can you talk just a little bit more about when you show your clients the pricing? Because as you said, people who might not be know what to expect? Yep, so I use there's multiple stages where clients are getting prices and multiple points where we're technically doing sales, so we don't put our pricing online means it means that they have to reach out and contact us to get it, so at that point we start with pricing and it's usually, prices start at x then I give them a little bit of an idea of most people spend x then I talk about what they want and then we can talk about very generic pricing it's when they come in that we actually go down when they come in for the pre meeting we do a lot of sessions when you went traveling I could meet those people via skype that's when we talk about actual numbers is after they've had a little bit of a chance to digest um numbers along the way and then at the viewing is where we do upsell feels heard this maybe I missed it is there a typical length that you're spending with a client when you're doing a session yeah I was two to three hours uh but that's just my choice I like to shoot that long and it depends how much I talkto him if I really get along with um and we're talking a bunch then it's going to be through hours if we don't get along that well then I'll probably be like two hours you have some some questions I don't know if you mind sharing about the album company that you do use I'm happy to for allowed oh yeah so we used we do our album company they're based out of toronto and we actually have a line coming out specifically I called for him it's our line it's coming out through them the reason we use who do our album company, customer service, great product, but also because they're local. We've talked about that really want to support local. We also use renaissance albums can is amazing when we love working with them a swell. So those other two companies we use in terms of actual printed albums well, lately lately it seems that artists are are shooting for the wall. There they're doing campuses on stuff to hang on wall. Um, it sounded like like your work is mostly in albums or what yourself. It's, mostly albums that's by choice. We do offer campuses and do sell campuses, but we find that an album is something tangible that they can keep forever and that they can take with, um clients more likely to take an album toe work to show her girlfriends, then have somebody in their home to view a private campus. The campuses we do sell typically our body scapes or more detail oriented. The fact of the album is it gets it out to more people. More people are seeing it.

This is an amazing class. The best I have seen so far on the art and business of boudoir photography. Brianna and Ewan covered very difficult subjects in this class in a very effective, professional, informative, and entertaining way. I loved how they addressed the human sexuality in the most beautiful way in relation to art of boudoir photography. It was fascinating to see how Ewan was able to get the models to pose into very sexy and beautiful poses by providing clear instructions in a very respectful manner. Brianna was very informative on how to run a successful boudoir business. I sincerely believe that both Ewan and Brianna shared many of the secrets of the trade that they learned over many years which made their boudoir business a success story.

This couple is awesome. I really enjoyed the intro into Ewan's posing techniques. To be honest I would have loved more. Please CL have them come back and continue this workshop. I appreciated the very clear directions to the models without being crass. I'm sure it comes with time, but his methodical tone and direction helped to (IMO) communicate his expertise and improves model/client confidence. Ewan and Brianna helped us to define not only our why, but the how. Very worthwhile to my wife and I for our boudoir photography. Much love Brianna and Ewan, and uh...sorry (lol).

I bought this as an online course, and I was very pleased with it and felt like it was worth the investment. From reading other reviews, you can see that other students have their own opinions based upon their own expectations and interests, and my review is the same. I was more interested in the art of the photography and the posing of the models, and I was very pleased with that part and would have liked to have seen a little more of that and less of the business side. However, I thought the information on the business, marketing, contracts, legal etc. to be very informative and helpful if I wanted to do this commercially. I would recommend that they shorten the first lesson by editing some of their own personal journey and opinions, the latter appearing unnecessarily defensive. I thought one reviewer was unfairly critical of Ewan's "control". I appreciated his directness and instructions, and I think this reviewer may have reflected some of her own issues about either males or control issues. Overall, it was highly informative, and I highly recommend the course. Just go in knowing you're going to be exposed to the business side, as well as the creative side.
