Day 3 Pre-Show Banter
we are going to do about another six minutes of pre show banter, as we always do, to make sure that all of our audio and sound and feeds air working. So let us know in the chat room, um, also let us know where you're joining us from and what we'd like to do this morning is talk to you guys about your experience here at great alive. Um, as you know, we invite people to submit videos to come and be part of our studio audience, which is quite a different experience. Then everybody who's watching from home as you really get toe see what it's like here. So we're wondering if you could go around and talk about what it's like for you to have been here, Um, in person. Well, I just feel privileged. Teoh have been selected to be part of this workshop. It's great to get to work one on one with David both shooting and also hearing all his tips and tricks to making better, more dramatic images. I'm just generally really, really impressed with creative life and the operation that runs here, and the ...
amazing lineup of people that that come through I absolutely agree with that being part of it live and especially this atmosphere here. It's very dynamic, and I forget that were being taped except right this moment. But the workshop itself has been transformational for me in ways that I didn't expect. And I came in thinking of wanted to learn one thing and I'm leaving with a lot more. So can I. Can I just ask what? In particular? I came in with a focus on black and white, and I mentioned earlier, driving home yesterday. All I could see was color everywhere I look color, which is popping out at me and using the tools and using them differently. And then, well, I've had a great time in the past few days. I feel like I've learned a lot about Photoshopped and, um said That's a really cool environment, Um, great people working around here and putting this whole thing together and it's been a pleasure to meet all the other students to Yeah, there's a big difference between following great of live courses online, which I dio and being here in person when I'm at home watching it's a lot easier. Teoh, take a bathroom break or go outside and do something during the breaks and come back a little bit late. But here I have to sit and concentrate hard. And that's what I wanted to do on this court because I'm really into David's work. So I wanted to learn, uh, a lot. This is working out really well. It was nice to shoot with you live the other day and get instant feedback and then also go and process my my image with you because I as we saw, I didn't exactly know where to go with the image and you direct that. So it was really cool to be able to do that in person. It's been phenomenal. I mean, just have the opportunity to spend time with you again in the photography as well is doing the work yesterday came away with a lot of learning the sense that I've gotta learn a lot more regarding color lab. I mean, I was very frustrated as part of it, but for me, that's a good thing for learning's. And I said, the creative live team as a whole is phenomenal in this this environment in it's been exceptional and thank you for your your your sharing your knowledge with us. This is a second, uh, course I've been here for, and this is the first time I've done one on one with Thea taking photos and stuff. It's usually just just watching the course. So it's been great that way, And it's also learned a lot more than I thought I was. I thought the whole thing was gonna be just on HDR, so I got some extra stuff that I didn't expect. And it's great being here. Could you could talk off camera to the to the instructors and students, and you get a lot more that way next. Great. Well, we're so excited, Toe, have all of you guys you've been awesome and awesome part of participating and, you know, being part of the discussion. And we just want toe remind folks that we have Matthew Jordan Smith is coming in November, November 11th through the 13th and you still have time to submit your video to come and be part of that course. It's gonna be fashion and beauty. It's gonna be amazing. Yeah, he does amazing work. We got a little taste of his teachings with Tamara lackey last course, and he very exciting to be working with him. So, Jim, what's Ah, Let's tell David where people are joining us from. Well, yeah, Alexander from Costa Rica and, uh, Verizon from Delaware, USA. Nico Green seven is in New Brunswick and we have Toronto. We have one of carrots having lunch right now. We got Park City, Utah. We got New York City guitar goddess. Ah, regular. Uh, I get our guys Nova Scotia and, um, Chaplin, Conn. And, of course, Kalimba. Oh, good. Columba with that's our Antarctica friend. Uh, Miami Hunts film, uh, Scott to tuning in from Oz from us from San Francisco Bay Berlin. All right, well, welcome, everybody. So great, so great.

Ive been following davids work and tutorials for around a year now...well ever since i took up photography as a hobby. Im a lifetime member to chromasia.com and have been working through his tutorials when time allows. There is no fast track approach to this subject but i wanted the best advice i could get. Ive always found david very approachable over the internet and is always willing to offer advice on questions ive had regarding all manner of photography questions, being a noob. Whilst the tutorials are very comprehensive and well written sometimes its hard to digest this by yourself. So when i heard that he was presenting a three day course over the net. I jumped (well not quite more like sat down) at the chance to make sure i was able to watch the course (didnt manage that either). Sometimes its better to have a monkey see monkey do approach to walk you through different aspects of photoshop. And after the first day of the tutorial, so much information sunk in more so than it did sat reading through the tutorials. Although i didnt get to actively sit and watch the remainder of the last two days i did purchase the course so i can refer back to it time and time again. I can highly recommend this course, its concise, well planned and enjoyable course to watch. When you subcribe to the course you even get the files david walked through so you can practice yourself. I cant really praise the whole package enough...but its an invaluable reference course and couple this with chromasia membership you have a package that will dramatically improve your processed photos, the way you think about composition and importantly your camera settings! Great stuff

David’s Dramatic Post Production Workshop is an excellent source of both education and inspiration. The Photoshop instruction is excellent and was my primary reason for watching the workshop. I was very surprised by how thought provoking the shooting sessions in the alley were and the lasting influence it will have on my own photography. Firstly the preparation for the session in the alley was interesting – having a goal and a purpose in mind. The fact that they are producing interesting work to illustrate the points and techniques in a rather dull alley helps emphasize the learning. On my next shoot after watching the workshop I definitely made adjustments in my approach. The discussion, examples and instruction on the goal of making an image more dramatic is very inspiring. It really makes me step back and review my own work to see how I can approach it from a different perspective

The workshop was a great opportunity to learn to be more purposeful and intentional about the creative process at the post-production stage. I found the second day of the workshop – where David goes into his own approach in Photoshop – to be the most valuable for me. I look forward to putting this new found wisdom into practice into my own work. Thanks David!
