Hello, and welcome to CreativeLive. My name is Kenna Klosterman and I am your host for Travel Photography: the Complete Guide with Ben Willmore. Now you may know Ben as a Photoshop expert, a Lightroom expert but he is also a travel photography expert and I can't wait to learn from him. So please help me welcome to the stage, Ben Willmore. (applause)
Ben! So fabulous to have you back.
Yeah, it's good to be here. Now this is my favorite subject matter, travel photography. And what I hear from a ton of people who are travel photographers is that you come home and you have thousands of images from your trip and you're totally overwhelmed and don't even know where to start.
Well, the thing about it is the place to start is before you even start the trip because part of it is thinking about where you're about to explore and making sure you're prepared when you get there so that you're not overwhelmed with what's in front of you.
And then when you ge...
t home, you've got to have a system for dealing with your images and I'll show you one where you'll be able to tell the status of any image in just a glance. You'll know, has it been processed? Is it ready to show anybody? Does it need a lot of work left, or anything else? And you should be able to find pretty much any important image in about five seconds of time.
Five seconds, Ben?
Yeah. That means if you want to see a monk at a temple with an orange umbrella, you should be able to do that in five seconds. But those are only for your important images. You're not gonna find images that don't look good. You want to be able to have a friend walk up and you just say, "Hey, check this out, here's a monk at the beach." And you can find it in a matter of seconds.
Fantastic, well I know we have a lot to learn from you, Ben so why don't you take it away?
Sounds good, well let's get started with travel photography.
