Hot Seat #1 - Alicia Tisdale

Thank you for being here, I appreciate it. Okay, so let's read this. "Alicia Tisdale Photography", photographa, I am British all of a sudden, y'all. I need some coffee in a legit way. "Alicia Tisdale Photography. "Mother to my monkey and my bee. "I create art, with my camera. "Mom. Artist. Photographer." Cool, I get what you do. Question, "Using social media platforms for business "outside of photography, "for example, the car dealership I work with. "How important is it to connect with "smaller local businesses on social media? "For example, we have a bake shop "opening their second location for brunch, "would it be weird for a car dealership "to team up with the bake shop "to help promote it on social media?" How do we feel about that question? Are we good? Yeah. Okay. Man alive. Don't wait for the collaborations. Create the collaborations. When I heard that you, as a photographer, work with a car dealership, and I am assuming you're taking promotional photos for the dealership. ...

I do a lot. I photograph all their cars, they want me to run their social media, I do their website, I do everything on top of my photography. So I do a lot for them. Good for you, good for you. So, you're saying, you're gonna create an added value in benefit for the car dealership, which further secures your job security there, and you're wondering, "Jasmine, is to totally weird that as a car dealership, "there is a restaurant in town "opening their second location?" And all I think of is, "Oh my God, yes." Whenever it doesn't make sense, it is the quickest way for you to stick out. So, now your objective is, when it comes collaborations, how we do make it a win? And how do we make it work? And in my mind, I would think of three different things. Number one, have a few cars available to say, "We'll pick you up and take you to the restaurant." That's so weird and so odd. But it's different. But it's different, but it's different. And then what you could do, is perhaps you can have a photo wall there at the bakery, and it's called a step and repeat, where you have the car dealership logo in the back. But you make a big Instagram frame and you put a brunch items around the Instagram frame. So it's like, think about a Polaroid picture with the step and repeat, so they step in front of the Polaroid frame and then behind them, it says your car dealership, and then, this funny little things that they can hold up. You're creating a photo booth because when you give people content to share, then they have a reason to share it. So, an idea could be, yes, we can be creating like, a personalized Uber from car dealership x, a step and repeat photo booth there at the place, and then perhaps it could be that one lucky winner who submits their name at the brunch, will be able to drive a car from the dealership for seven days. That creates such a buzz. And the only thing that a car dealership needs, no, we're talking about massive transactions. We're talking about 10, 20 30, $40,000 transaction. Do we think it's going to happen overnight? No, but the only thing we need to do for the car dealership, is keep the car dealership on top of mind. Again, and again, and again, and when they see it. So, studies like 30 years ago, it's like, people had to see an ad 13 times before they decided to buy. And now, with social media, because we see ads so much more often on social, people now have to see something like, 50 or 70 times before they actually make a decision to buy. So, the car dealership, their only objective needs to be, the number one car dealership that people think when it comes time to buy a car. It could be next week and it could be next year. And your objective is only keep the conversation going, keep the car dealership in front of mind. And is it weird to create collaborations with people in outside industries? Possibly. But the weirder collaborations are the ones that stick out when they're executed really well. So, I love that. Do you have any other questions in regards to this type of question, regards to collaboration? Anything in regards to hashtagging for your business? No, I think we've pretty much covered everything that I can use in both, my photography and my day job. So, this whole class has been pretty awesome. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And I have to also commend a lot of people because you are the majority. There's a very, very, very small group of people who get to pursue what fulfills them creatively full-time and generate a viable and profitable business. And so, what you're doing is you're taking a huge bite of so much responsibility, of having a day job and your side hustle that gives you life, and being a mom to your monkey and your bee. And I'm sure there's times you're just like, "I'm doing all the things "and I wonder if I'm doing it well." All the time. Okay. (laughs) But there's a whole group of people behind you nodding being like, "We feel that too". So, I just wanna take a minute to celebrate how far Alicia has come and how far we've all come, trying to find all the things that balance us. So, many of us who are pursuing creative careers, have to do it as a side hustle. And Elizabeth Gillbert said that we should be treating our side hustle the same way that we would be treating a passionate love affair. It's exciting, we have no expectations. Because the minute we demand something from our passion love affair, is the minute we become resentful that it's not the thing that we want. So, to all of us who are having a passionate love affair with our creativity, and we have to do something else in order for us to facilitate this passionate love affair, appreciate the beauty of that because there's so many people who don't even have that luxury. The minute we put that passionate love affair under the thumb, it becomes, "You're not doing enough for me". So to you, I applaud you. You have a mate, that car dealership don't know what they have with you. (laughs) Watch, go away on vacation for a couple weeks, they're like, "Come back, hurry up". So, congratulations. Thank you for being here. Thank you for taking time from your family, from your day job, and from your passionate love affair. I appreciate that.

And incredible class, so meticulously worked out & prepared to make it as legit as any online class can ever be. The amount of work CL team & J* has put into making this workshop is mind blowing. The idea of picking 2 businesses, working on their social platforms for 30 days exactly on the lines of what she has taught here and then presenting the stellar outcomes as proof is just incredible. I guess there is rarely any tutorial out there on the web that has put up such efforts to walk the talk & show that it is doable. And the way J* has laid it out makes this doable by anyone! Jasmine isnt the nerdy type, she knows the rules of game & plays it with heart & wins it like a boss. Am a super fan of her for exactly this reason. However, max content is focused on Insta, and little focus on FB. Her energy is vivacious, you cant doze off while she is talking. She talks like Ferrari on nitro boosters, even when she is giving impromptu suggestions or replying questions on the fly. Thankyou so much CreativeLive for everything you do and Jasmine you da boss! Wrote a lot, but this class deserves. The 1st day's lessons alone are worth the class price. Highly highly recommended.
