Sue Photoshops Woman In Ivy Wall Continued

All right this is where I'm going to get really particular I gotta come in here I've gotta erase this back I've got to make her start belonging to this wall and look at that I've cut a toe you don't even notice that didn't that's when you got to get up in here all right so how about exactly the same thing as the tree roots I'm going to make this happen the first thing I have to do or consider is that before I even put my leaves on I have to give her some depth so two things are gonna happen one of this I have to go through and do all of that white area but before I do I'm going to go to my background layer this's the heck version love the hag vision you're gonna love this okay I'm going to highlight the background around her skirt her body like this then I'm going to go copy and paste and I'm going to bring this layer on top of here up she's gone then what I want today is I'm gonna arise it back like this and the backgrounds coming forward okay said now what I need to decide is how muc...

h I'm going to keep so do I now started racing around here because when I a raise I'm going to get her face bag so do I do that and it looks really spooky like she's trapped in the wall or do I take it right back to here and then just see which parts I'm going to keep on which parts I'm not. And then take maya pacenti back up again. So right now, that's, the choice I make about having the beck claire come in front of her. So when I created this image again, I'm using the same tools, these air, just freaky little things. So what I did was I created this image here and she shot on a grey wall and so she's doing her pose on a grey wall, I can't hear out, and I put her on this fake wallpaper, and it looks really fake. So then what I do is I cut out the wallpaper again and I put the wallpaper on top of here, but I don't a race back the age I just a race back through the center so you can actually still see the wallpaper is actually printed over here skin and it blends his straight into the background. I'll see in the lunch break if I can find this cause so freaky to see, and this is where you decide when you take that cut out, put it back over and then started racing back on how much you want to race back it's really cool. But cutting out yeah, really, really awesome. So let's, I'll show you a big vision so that you can see up close what I'm doing so I'm deciding now how much I bring forward and how much I dilate so let's say I decide just to show you the bits through here and I just go around and do exactly the same thing, just like I did with the tree rates I stopped lending her in so that she's fitting in up under there, okay, I'm not gonna lose her eye, so I have to show her face. So how much of that waldo I blend in and how much is she coming out of that war? Like, am I giving her her here back? Am I taking it right back? But I don't want the white, but I can remove the white remember? Because then the concrete it there and then I've got a real twigs, which is good because I've got a real hands and remember, I'm going to hear and removing the white and then I'm just slowly blending these images together. What I'll do is, um, they want to keep working on these, I want to try and I want to try and record what I'm doing so that you can see me finish them, so I'm going to try and record as much as I humanly again, um, because I can screen record on quick time, by the way, big there's a big tip and I've got to tell you this yesterday quick time is a program on your computer to play in movies, movies and quick time records the screen. So when you want to do marketing on your fine art prince record your art sessions, if you turn the microphone on, it will record the sound and the environment, if you could children playing tv on you kind of hear it all, but if you don't it's simply going teo record the screen to let me show you so that this is what I would do if you want to keep watching me when we go to break, I would go like this. I would go to my menu here and I would open um, quick time and it's not on my menu, so I have to go to my finder and I have to go to my application, so I don't know why it's not there, but anyway it will be here and in my applications, I've got my system preferences, so this is just a few having trouble finding it. I can't even find my system preferences there, what am I talking about it's right there on my applications thiss my quick time there okay so I can put it on my menu bath the next time that doesn't happen so I'm like oh I'm going to record this photo shop station for you guys so you go like this and you hit open quick time and then what you do is you go up and nobody I did not know this I'm I bought recording software so that you could watch my fetish oppositions and then somebody told me our quick times way faster recording your screen so you can do really neat marketing and then you can time lets it if you eat it it properly so you go up to your quicktime menu and you just go file screen recording so you hit record in the first thing it gives you is the option to record sound and record what you're photographing sorry working on so when you hear you talk sis and you khun go microphone no microphone you can plug in the earphones so if you get your met earphones from your iphone plug it in there has a microphone here you can plug in and just get microphone almost brilliant microphone quality recordings and high res but it gets better so you screen record you talk into your microphone so now it's playing my screen start recording you straight away go back to your photo shop station it's recording your sound you know your racing back you're going blah blah blah or you're not talking at all you're just listening to me, is it because you're going to time? Let's, say, and then a few time lapse that you're going to bring it back? And when you finish recording it's here c at the top of your screen, you can see stopped recording, so you go stop recording and look what happens it instantaneously, and all other recording software takes about twenty minutes to load makes you in the movie now that the movie is really toe upload to youtube, so if you do nothing to it, if you don't have music, you don't need to cut out your voice. We don't need to cut out the stat or put an intro, and if you if you have that rudimentary look at this play and you're watching me photo shop like that in high risk on a movie now, don't tell me you can do time lapses of amazing out like imagine if I did thirty six hours of recording and then stitched all videos together, made a time, let self it, and then put that on youtube or I cut it down to the best off or I used an editing software, or I got somebody who was a really good edited to make me amazing time let's videos. Off! Imagine if you had behind the scenes footage of you shooting this and they're doing it mentioned what a great marketing tool and then what do you do? You link tag she and bid photoshopped youtube, and then what do you do? Teg words, key words and then facebook and then embedded into your blogger so you have an archive of it, and they put on me open on youtube, generate some traffic and before you know it, one of your videos or have twenty thousand hits, thirty thousand hits forty thousand hits, people will bring you and haskell publications for work, and it is the fastest way to share kashia is the word that is the best marketing word in the world share she had, how sheer? Why share? Because you want to give him connected yet and that's really awesome. Okay, thank you for that added bonus, so I've got to decide whether or not that's going to benefit me or not at the moment, I don't think it is I'm going to turn that off, I'm going to keep racing through the white, but I just want to show you you know what I'm going to do when I raced back on the white, you know, it's gonna be time consuming, but I'll record it, I can't time lets it because you've already got the listen maybe I'll only take the time lets off the speed off when there's something irrelevant that you haven't heard before so hell about. I look at the color tone and how I'm going to stop cleaning them together now, so this is really important. For starters, the back wall has more contrast and more shadow than the builders and and she's not going to look like she belongs, and they're all until I up her shadow. I can't up her shadow unless I change something like this only sigh add more contrast in the blacks now she fits in a little bit more as I start removing the white she's going to start looking like she belongs in the eyrie, taking highlights off taking her light's on, but I've got to stop matching it she's not going to look like she completely belongs in there until I do two things one is bring some ivy forward around who dress in the other one has take all that white off because then you'll start to see her really sink into that wall. So it's going to be a really good time lips because you're going to slowly just start to see him moving backwards? This is where I'm using my alien skin alien skin has the added bonus of giving me these amazing contract. Filters which will contrast both her and the war behind her do be careful when you're working on your laptop using alien skin because you're opening these mess of files and if they're big tiff files then obviously the first thing that's gonna happen is you know if you um priest too many buttons you're going aerial photo shop that there makes me so excited like I just have opened that on the vintage derek, which is my favorite black and white but its color because I've opened it from color I just want to drop that wall into that exact same thing and get this dark grungy girl stuck in the world thing and I didn't you know it straight away it just like all you can start to see how toning the image instantly starts to give it life so here we go I'm going to go have a look at these ated times okay get out of the black and whites get out and go into the colors and I don't think I'm going to be in the faded colors because I think the faded colors aren't strong enough although all those old photo filters just make me so go see we love ghosted out mckenna guess he's good and but the polaroid filters for may the yellows and the stained yellow's always really thrilling to me so straight away I want to apply this to the different layers or if remember, if I was removing all the white I would have already started to burn around her body to make a look like she's a shadow on the wall so I would have already started to do that so you'll see me do that on the video, so just keep recording I don't see how slow on my laptop, but I'm tethered and when you're recording, it slows you down so you need to shut all of your other windows if you're recording. Secondly, when you're recording with quick time, it opens in quick time and you have to command tab to photo shop, so you do need to eat it the front out in the back out anyway. But if you're putting up videos to market with, you should have an intro and out like a I call it an intro and an outro it should say surprise dot com and then it should say, find out by surprise dot com model here and make up by you know you should have that I wouldn't be putting on my alien skin and layers I would be putting in my island skin, but once you've used in alien skin layer it's sitting right there on filter, you don't need to reopen the alien skin window, you can simply go in there, so what it's gonna do is going to keep giving me filters and I don't want to do that so I would rather a race back all the white and then tone the whole image together because I think that's more important than doing it that by bit I want to try and turn these images exactly the same so that the more you see color the more it belongs in the image then you're just seeing light and dark okay so when you're an artist when I'm drawing a face what's going to give me dimension and deep is shading and you don't highlight unless you're drawing on black paper with a white pencil you draw on paper the more you shade the deeper it goes into the image now the reason my sister can draw like she's a photographer is who shading is so remarkable I should change democrat wick her shading is so remarkable she just puts deep into an image by shading into it can you see straightaway when I put it into the same tone your ices well that's taken in the same place now all they have to do is take that white off and keep shading her age because if she was three dimensional she's gonna have a shadow on that wall she's gonna have a blockage around here and that's one of the hardest things to do is to make that looks really ok so we really have to use our dips and their toe push it back we're going to do the cereal you guys are going to do the aerial out there we're gonna try and find a way to make that happen. Um logistically you know it's not it's like you say things that they oh let's do this and then it's like logistically how do we put that out? All of these people that we have to do that the team is working on it and we will let you know when we know okay? So I can't wait to see that so what I'll do is over the next sort of week and a half I'll try to keep recording as much as I can and I'll try tio and get these through to his bonus material as soon as I can and I'll keep doing as much as I can to keep you posted on what it looks like I'm because it would just help if I and I want to finish them I want to make them look amazing okay, here we go we have got in larry and so dumped um tum so this is something really interesting. This image here is an image that I'd created for the awards um it was a woman in a man's world that was the story she is androgynous and who make up and here she is drinking scotch and wearing a man's suit that I bought from a second hand store for twelve dollars ah, we pulled it here back and who makeups pretty grungy. Um, I wanted teo at the time I was a young photographer addressed that all the photographers were male. Now some guy's going to do a photograph of a woman sitting in a bath for the camera because it's like this what seems to be more female photographers or I keep seeing that written like, why there's so many female photographers? But when I started, there were no female photographers in my industry that we're leading teaching or even winning awards. And then there were a couple above me, but what I've used is the highlight and dodge and burn technique on the taps on their hands and around her faith that's why it looks so illustrated I've simply enlarged it and used my dodge and been the way I use a pencil. I put the dark boone in the in the shaded part, I put the highlight on the highlight pat, I don't use them non destruct or whatever that larry uses, if you know how to use that bonified issues judge and ben and it works and people will go ahead and get that painted look and that's what I do a make the darks dark of the lights lighter, and it simply looks painted when I first entered this image. Into the awards um they didn't understand the story without uh you know they just didn't see the story that said woman in a man's world so I actually made that razor blade and the blood and how I did that wass I cut out a piece of dark from the front and shaped it like a razor blade put it up there and then simply shaded it in and how I did they it's not free high res this image and how I did the blood was I got some retouching die and rid I went to my porcelain sink filled it up with water and I dribbled the paint down the side of my porcelain sank and then took a photo of it and then at the same perspective and then just put the blood and so it was coming down the reason I did that was because sometimes you have to be obvious and sometimes you're too obvious when you're telling a story with photography I think it's very important that you had a middle road that is not too offensive that's not over obvious it didn't win a very high award because they didn't get the story I put the blood in there just to be contribution all but there was no razor blades so they're like why is she bleeding? I put the razor blade in her hand and then they're like oh she's cut her wrist so these toys is fine line between being contribution being dark telling a story putting in elements that went there and do they belong? Why do they belong? Do they tell a story? Who are they speaking to? Bottom line is this when you love it? Who cares? Okay, there is your bottom line when you put something in the awards and you love it and it doesn't score it doesn't matter I still love it and when I love it it's my best work okay? It doesn't matter if somebody at the day hated it doesn't matter if a judge hate it doesn't matter if somebody gets on facebook and see something dumb about it I love it, you know and that's what you do in somebody sees all that's crap because I love it but you don't need to cry about it and it's just the way it is um so that tel I did my sisters image as well with the fork um I illustrated seat noticed the tepp in the oven and everything is free highlighted it's very sharp it's really I didn't over sharpen it and put any shouting at whatsoever I simply dodged and burned I put a dodge on the wall I bought up the wallpaper I just dodged and burned and dodged in boone made it look grungy and that's how I did that illustrating with it

This was my first Creative Live course and I thoroughly LOVED it! While contemplating purchasing the course, I was a bit weary because some of the reviewers commented on how they wished they could have seen Sue Bryce give more in depth information about one of her projects, but there is SO MUCH information that is packed into this class. I LOVE Lara Jade and her work is amazing. The enthusiasm that both instructors bring to the class, their eagerness to share their workflow and wonderful retouching methods are worth every penny and then some. Going into the class, I already was familiar with Lara's beautiful fashion photography and really wanted to know her trade secrets so for me this was everything I needed. For me, the bonus feature was getting an insight into Sue's wonderful mind and how she conceptualizes, photographs and retouches her amazing portraits! Wow, I learned so much and I HIGHLY recommend these ladies and this course. Creative Live just one more thing... please, more LARA JADE courses!!
