Affiliate Commissions & Sponsorships
So we want to go into the next thing which is affiliate commission sponsorships making money with podcasts you guys excited about this? Give me some energy give me around yeah, okay, so this is all about monetizing your podcast how many people are making money currently with their podcast? Who are who are here the studios a making anything nathan little bit what's a little bit like two cents or like fifty bucks or a hundred bucks currently with microbrewer podcast about how to start a brewery is bringing in a little bit of money and monetizing a few different ways it's paying for itself it's not paying for my time, which is like thanks for hosting fees is praying for you audio hosting editing, hosting website on stuff yeah, okay some plug ins here and there like male chimp fees got forgot but it's not making you money and the time that I'm putting in is like a full time jobs that yes, getting hard too justified continuing are you generating leads or getting consulting deals out of it o...
r anything else? No that's what I'm hoping to learn from you just awesome. Perfect all right, thank you anyone else making any money from their podcast? Tracy tijuana I was just going to say I made three dollars and if the late links from amazon says go you go but I do I do have some consulting work that it pays for itself in that way. There you go. Okay, cool. Yes, you don't need unnecessary have the biggest podcast to make money if your coach or consultant you can have a thousand listeners a week or a month and if it's the right people they can hire you so you never know monetizing let's talk about a filly commission since you're talking about amazon and how much money you're making with that uh this amazon's not really something I use, but best place to start is something like amazon affiliate links if you're brainy podcast you're just trying to monetize that you can use amazon ophelia links signing was an account I don't think it makes much you don't make much commission right percent or something it's something small, minimal but it's a way to start it want to make a few dollars here and there another places you can start is finding out what are other products related to your podcast that you could sell not necessarily on amazon but nathan maybe, um bar industry related software so it's like it's how to run a bar better bar right brewery burry sorry wanna keep things bar restaurant how to start a brewery but maybe there's like a software for breweries or there's a book for breweries or there's a guide or theirs a service online for worries that you could partner with and sell their services their software to make a commission so something look at is what are the piers in your industry? What products and services do they have that you could start providing who could you start reaching out to four sponsorship as well affiliates have noticed on other podcast similar to yours so I'm david um you just ten podcast a week maybe sometimes and you probably see that you hear their sponsorship reads or there what they're promoting right? And if you had a similar podcast the ones you listen to you could be ok if the's sponsors are running on these podcast, maybe you could reach out to those so I know audible dot com does a lot of sponsors of reeds and their constant looking to do partnerships with podcast does it makes sense because they're all audio, so start looking at what the other podcast sponsor preys have this is amazon associates so you can just sign up here you can search for products so if you're in the brewery business, you could search for brewery courses, books, dvd cds if you're a life coach, you could look for books about um healing and getting clear on what you want in life and, you know, deepak chopra on uh wayne dyer things like that that you could sell through there as well, you want to look through these these this website you could start there there's other places you can search do this as well but an amazon is definitely one place to search for products, books, courses things like that uh fili commissions again this is I partner with friends of mine who are in my industry who are promoting who have other courses as well online courses and again if you want to learn more about online courses and building an online business you can check out the other creative live class that I did a few years back that's all about making money online building on my courses but I partner with friends who have great products and programs that I make a commission from so this is a product from marie for leo two thousand dollar program and I did aa little sponsor to breed for my podcast and I think I made sixty three or sixty four sales for this about um earlier this year and it's a thousand our commission so I made like sixty three sixty four thousand dollars from one promotion so there's no money up front there's potential money if you get a commission so I give them a direct link that's my affiliate link and I made money because people wanted to buy that so they bought it through me I got a commission so there's an option there to make money as an affiliate I thought more about sponsorships uh two types really really what I do on leah's the paper number of downloads and I'm kind of like a picky because I started off my podcast not wanting sponsors I said the first year I'm not going to try to get sponsors I'm just going to try to build a great podcast that inspires people and that help me build my audience um I think because I went into it not trying to make money the money started to come like people were like this is a great product we want to sponsor it because I was just like I want to create something great um so it was like four five months into it I started getting sponsorship opportunities I only took one that first year that I felt like it was a great fit to my brand and they've been with me for a long time I bring others on here and there, but I try to keep it very clean for me so the cost bird for down those essentially how many thousands of downloads people usually will rate the response shit value based on that. So that's, what I got off of um is doing the number of downloads as opposed to number of clicks for me it's more about the download numbers, but those are two different options for sponsorships and they want to see, you know, unless you're like a really nice related podcast if you're a brewery podcast you could have ah, low amount of downloads. I mean, you can have five thousand dollars a month, but there might be someone that would want to promote on a brewery. Podcasts. Um, we just got to figure out where those partners are. If it's specific, then it doesn't matter for smaller numbers. If it's a broader topic like fitness and health, you might need more numbers. Gotta start attracting the sponsors. You want question jan when you have sponsors or you have affiliates, how do you work that into your content? Like, do you say something in there? I mean, we showed some examples from the people that were, uh, submit it on twitter. You know, I'm going to talk about that. We're gonna have a special guest come on here soon he's going to talk about exactly how to do that? Yes. So waken go into that in a second um and people do it differently. People people do it differently. So there's no set way. We'll talk about the different ways that work, what I like to do with my sponsors when they sponsor me, I put them in the show notes as well. I'll put their links in the show notes, I try to give them special promotion to say, hey, listen, we can feature on the on the podcast but also in the blood which gets this many downloads then also I'll throw in you know I'll do it a social media promotion once a week if you want my instagram right now if you're watching this live, you'll see that my sponsor at a photo on instagram a couple days ago so I try to throw in some extra love for the sponsor because I really appreciate their willingness to see support me and it's a lot of money you know, my sponsorships close to two thousand dollars a reed right now per episode and that's small compared tto you know joe rogan's like ten, twelve, fifteen thousand dollars to ferris they're kind of up in that range so for me I appreciate one someone was departing with me and I don't just take anyone I get lots of offers people e mail me all the time wanting to promote, but unless it matches my brand, I don't want to promote something that I want to use that I don't like um so I say no to a lot of people but there's money to be made out there in sponsorships because, uh they work definitely and my sponsor one of my sponsors on it dot com I asked the ceo I said, where do you think you'd be if you weren't sponsoring on podcast? And I said how much uh, you know, is your sales come from podcast? I probably shouldn't say everything you told me, but essentially he was like, we would not be even close to where we are in sales without the sponsorships we do on podcast, they're constantly sponsoring a podcast, a lot of their sales and revenues come from podcast, and he would they were like, we want to be where we're at financially without finding these individuals that so many people are dedicated listening teo and trust and sponsoring them so it's a powerful thing and it could help your business a lot if you find the right ones s so this is kind of like the standard is and they might be a little different now we'll have a guest on who will tell us a little bit more in a second, but a fifteen second pre rolls. So before the episode begins, you kind of here in the first minute, you know, the standards eighteen dollars per thousand listens and sixty second mid role in the middle of the podcast about twenty five dollars per thousand. Listen, so the podcast gets twenty thousand downloads um then you can do the math on how much, how much you could sell your your sponsor prays for and there's a whole guide at this link right here, you'll fire dot com slash podcast dash sponsorships and I think that's in the bonus guide as well this information should be there but that link will give you the full breakdown about sponsorships as well where to find sponsors so a couple places one listening to other podcast and hearing the sponsorships that are related to your podcast if you listen all the fitness shows just listen to see who that they're promoting who's they're sponsoring and then reach out to them if they're sponsoring if they're already looking a sponsor on podcasts then there wanna sponsor yours as well if you've got enough listens because they see the value of promoting on podcast so looked to the other podcast that aren't there currently as a first place second place is mid roll this is a sight for podcast and advertisers so the advertisers were coming on here to find podcast is well you can sign up is a podcast or it tells you how everything works they take a commission, they'll help you find sponsors they're pitching sponsors show is constantly so they're kind of got to do the work for you and take a commission and they do a great job so that's a place to go and then also audible dot com I think audibles great for most podcast because people listen to podcasts usually listen to audio books as well and so audible is spending a lot of money promoting because they want to get more people downloading their audiobooks so there's a place could be perfect for the library. Podcast is what you want people to go to, what your podcast name again, the library way, it's it's, a bookstore store. Why don't you say a lot of books in a library? Okay, so the bookstore podcast, right, so it could be great for that idea. I mean, that's, actually. Perfect idea. So, that's, why I took the last right there. There you go. You learn something, right? I just got my time where you got your worth a go. So there's a place to find a mid roll, audible and then other podcast of where your sponsors are.

Wow! This was the first time I watched a tutorial in this format - and LOOOOVE It - The audience was great , love the interactive format and the small group , because everyone gets better interaction face time with the instructor . Of course , I love anything that Lewis does- and would love to thank him and Creative Live for the free month we received as a gift at the Summit of Greatness 2018. Also, before this I actually never heard of Creative Live, so I am grateful to have found out about you guys. Thank you to Lewis and Creative Live - I will for sure taking full advantage (in a nice way :) of my free access. Beautiful!!

Absolutely EXCELLENT Creative Live course. It's funny because I was going through some old emails and I found a promo email to this course when Lewis was first promoting it. I missed out on it the first go around and so seeing this email made me curious if it was still being offered, and it was! I purchased it and went through it in two days (it would have been one day but I had other work to get done :-) Lewis is so amazing as an instructor, I really love how he gives great insight but doesn't see anything as being a "secret". He's all about getting things done through hard work and simply experimenting. He truly shares all in this course! If you are familiar with the podcasting world to some extent and are curious as to how to monetize your podcast, this is for you! Take it and enjoy! -JT
