How to Make a Smart Album

we're gonna go starting with two tubs and go into individually through the tooth abs today. So I've decided to start with a sample wedding tool tab and we're gonna go into the organization of the wedding. Why? It's organized this way. How to do filtering, how to add filters. And so let's just get to it. So to grab a session to grab one of your previous sessions were just gonna grab these lead latest sessions. I went into the wedding session that they were shot not too long ago and in selected it and it's open. You can see that if I select another one, another session could open in the background. We actually have two sessions running at the same time. But it shouldn't shouldn't be too bad because we're not tethered. It is not going to one of the other. So the Capture folder, the Capture folder you'll see that there are just a few and the capture folder. That's because the Capture folder is whatever designated as the Capture folder. If we go zoom in and I'm gonna try to zoom ins because...

I heard through other segments, we're not seeing things very well. We've tried to increase the resolution, actually decrease the resolution to make these, uh, uh, thoughts a little bit larger. So bear with us, because that means with a 7 20 resolution, everything's a little bit cramped on the computer. But hopefully everyone at home concede a little bit better. So again, the reason that Capture Folder had a few because it's actually at the details holder. These folders, as we did in the sessions before, are set up for a wedding, a sample wedding, these of their, uh, organization that that my wife likes toe organizer weddings, pre wedding ceremony portrait and what we've done is gone in and you'll see that they're separated by by those details and reception images. Uh, as we want to do the output as we want to organize quickly. Look at my five stars. We have session albums. Albums are just a way to organize everything with in your whole job. It's a pretty much a virtual weight. We're gonna organize it that Ross, they're still going to stay where you have them. But this is a way to look at just a sampling. So if I just want to look at all my five stars All my five stars from all of the five folders. I've Got him organized, I Go No Session album. Gonna make a smart album for five stars and you'll see all my five stars were listed on the right, so we're gonna going to make a session album. A smart album. Let's go ahead it plus Smart album. So I have five stars. Let's add new criteria. So if you're shooting a wedding and one of your assistance is shooting a Nikon and you're shooting a cannon, you've ever done that. You'll see the color coming off them were completely different. You'll see that a whole bunch of contrast problems arise if you're not shooting the same manufacturer. Just an example. Not one good or better than the other. But you'll have to do some separation for your retouching, so you'll see that we could make smart albums, and we can sort them by all sorts of different ways. Weaken by the camera lens camera Serial number sequence. I ds the date as they were done. Do you just sort of like this? No, but I'm going to, um oftentimes if I want to sort by date, we consort by day. But in this regard very quickly. Let's go ahead and sort by rating and make a rating equals so equals. You want it precise and be four stars. You want to be greater than far four stars, so it be nice to do four and five. Maybe together, but for now, let's just say it is equal to is not equal to equals four stars. So we'll do a four stars. That is untitled smart album for war star images. It go and you'll see. Now I've got four star images, so the sex seconds essentially are now all selected. All the ones that I didn't find as my Force five star images, four star images and all the images from all the folders. Or if I want to look at them individually, the favorites really are the individual raw folders we have set up. And just to show you, since if you ah, were watching the other segments or not, we're going to go over a few things repeatedly. So I apologize if we've already shown you. But I don't think it hurts to see it again. So if we show it and find her, he'll see, I've got pre wedding ceremony and that's where the RAWs live session albums or smart albums is a virtual collection. They're not actually residing together. The favorites are actually the folders themselves and attach those folders. I can grab any folder and take a look at that folder. So we were talking before about importing. Were not importing here. We're just going and looking at their folder. And if you just look at it selected and then comes up like a bridge kind of workflow rather than importing into a light room, work right and creating duplicates, creating duplicates. And I have multiple images all over the place. Yes. So, Dave, um, let's say you wanted to do the Canon Nikon. Um, does it give you does it look at the metadata prior to and say, Oh, I have some cannons that I have some nightgowns or you have to type in Canon Nikon when you do. Ah, you could just do camera camera maker, right? It's anybody, but I mean, it's gonna give me a whole list Or is it gonna Dwight the type of just well separated by the manufacturer, Okay. And if you did buy lenses the lens. We know that the lens, since it already has these or get later in another segment, will go into it already has every single lens by by Nikon pretty much all the professional lenses, all the presidential ones. By by Canon, you could go by lens and by lands it was separate them all because the cannon leads will be together. Nikon lenses were together, so you don't have to type it in just by that large, vaguer, more vague category still separate them.

Yes, per some other reviews this started slow. What turned me off was the sales spiel for the class. It also came across as a sales schtick for C1, which is ok given the presenter. Stuck with it (well most of it, had to step away at times) and found it useful. I've had my eye on C1 for a LONG time. I'm not a pro, but would consider myself a pretty serious amateur. I document old mining and narrow gauge steam engines, general travel and now do our product photography (started a new company, so all $ goes to that rather than C1, which I would LOVE to own after seeing C9). Went with Aperture back in the day because of its cataloging and price. Back then C1 didn't have cataloging, though it DID have a 2 tier price structure...(Phase WHY did ya'll do away with this?????). Back to the class. After lunch on the first day I think they found their stride. Second day, especially Nino in the afternoon was quite good. That was probably my fav session. Seemed like most questions came from the in-studio "captive" audience. Expected more from the web? Constructive feedback. 1) Could have condensed things down quite a bit. I liked the more casual approach it took later on first day and on the second day. Dave especially seemed more at ease. 2) Ya'll (Dave especially) seemed to have his topics scripted out. Given the two day nature of this, would have been nice to give the attendees an idea of agenda/timeslots for topics up front. If an agenda/timeline was presented...I totally missed it. But then, I couldn't back up or rewind the live stream when I had to step away several times... if I paused it jumped to the realtime stream :-( 3) C Lve was pushing the "free trial download"...isn't there already a trial download from Phase? What value are ya'll offering in this area above what they offer? I found this annoying, if there's an extended trial period or something through ya'll cool. If not...I'm back to the annoying aspect of it. 4) Nino, get a Cintiq :-) If C1 doesn't have a profile for Cintiq (I'm going to download the trial from Phase) Phase you need to add support for it. 5) Dave's material he presented should be in vids on his website to help him expand his C1 market..fantastic selling tool there Dave....or even better....embedded in the product itself (ala SilverFast). Phase, you listening? 6) Nino, given he's coming from a different angle, eg no skin in selling C1?, he could do a 3-5 hour intensive vid(s) and I'd pay something for that. YMMV but I liked his approach and presentation. Was disappointed no C1 on his YouTube :-( Would I pay 99.00 for this class? Honestly, no. We use 3D graphics (ZBrush) and CAD (Rhino) in our company and have been learning those over the last year. To compare. There is another tutorial company whose name I shall not mention (no, it does not start with an 'L') that specializes in vid classes for those and other 3D products. They structure their offerings on a AFFORDABLE monthly/6mos/yearly all-you-can-eat fee structure. Much more consumer friendly, and quite honestly their videos are very focused and about 4-6 hours per course. I don't see myself paying 99.00 much less 129.00 for just one course like this (especially with the sales spiel content) when other companies have a more customer friendly consumption model. A value for the $ thing. In the end I did learn some things, and I'm glad I watched what I could of it. And yeah, I'm pretty sure after this review I just got taken off the free C1 license contention list...but I'm just being honest...Dave, I will be ordering some of the LCC pocket accessories if I ever get C1...those were cool IMHO. C1 has come quite a ways. When I can, I'll add it to our software arsenal.

I have been a user of Capture One for a couple of years but have strugled to get my head around the way to use this software as my chosen raw converter, I love the improved quality that Capture One gives me but always seem to end up scratching my head and going back to Lightroom to save time. I haven't been able to watch the full presentation due to time difference, (I am in the U.K), and other commitments but I have learnt so much in the time I have spent watching that I can finally see me waving goodbye to Lightroom in the very near future. The presenters are excellent teachers, they are funny, engaging and thanks guys you really have made a p[ositive difference to how I interact with Capture One software.
