The Spot Removal Tool

this image. Remember I said how wonderful the LCC tool is to get rid of my dust. Well, someone shot this image with a dusty, dusty sensor. And if you take a look at all those pieces of dust Oh, my God, I wish I would. It else you see for this this image a to this sensor because look at what I had to do to get rid of the dust on this image. I really love this image. So I spent the time removing the dust because the images strong. But if I would have had else you see, I would have Blick gone. But no, I didn't. So I had to then go in and use the spot removal, too. So let's go ahead and say what we had to do. Right now, I want you to also see that if I have to use the spot removal tool, everything go slower. Literally. It's moving slow and the hand till you see how close of slow I'm going to go to the hand tool, right? Because it's gotten that many spots on it spot, too, so I can make the spots larger or smaller by grabbing an edge, all right, having an edge in moving around. There's so ma...

ny spots on it. My computers, like know what have you done to me? But so I can make it smaller. You see, there is the spot. There's the dust behind it. I can grab it in the middle and drag it and put it there and place it over, or can make a smaller by waiting and then making it smaller there. So this is a simple as grabbing it, selecting it. There's my spot to know that dust you there 67 spots on their their 67 spots that I've retouched up. I'm sure I need more than that dust. There's a difference the way spots look anyway. Dust looks so dust is soft and a spot is hard, so it gets rid of them both. Both a spot or or it's a piece of something very hard or ah, spot that a dust that's very soft. It matters, and it does different algorithms for each one know that that is important. Remove the tool. It doesn't do anything for saving things. The lead selected spot. You just go select and hit. Delete. Okay, Okay, I guess if you want to move from one spot to the next and you'll see that it moved from one spot to the next. Yeah, okay. I don't know if I'd use those pieces, but that's that's the spot to Yes, one of the complaints I've read. And I had the first time I tried to use the spot. Removal was it leaves the circle up and you go to the next one. And when you're doing blemishes on, Ah, portrait was the complaint that one was overlapping the other, and they were having trouble seeing the next elimination. Is there a way to get that away? So, like it's gone? Kind of like the national did the M and the NASCAR's away and do it again, you know? Yeah. And they stay on top of each other. Of course, you get out of the tool and it goes away with the way. But getting that one out of the tool come back and out. Yeah. No, I would tell you the reason I would do it here. The reason I would do it right here is if I then had all those 70 images shot of this bridge that wanted Teoh do that, so I would then take my spot to and I would copy and apply, and I get rid of them all at once. That's the reason I would do it in capture. One is that people do that large workflow and fix all that time wasted of spots, right times, 70 images that's workflow. Otherwise, that's for sure doing push up. And and there's probably lots of times I would do it in photo shop instead, this to a while. It's good for speed of workload for a lot I'd want to do in El Sisi are probably wouldn't do it in photo shop because it slows it down quite a bit. I'm I'm glad it's there as a tool, but I don't want to use it as a crutch like this for certain. This source coming from whenever the spot tools being is so like in light room, you have you know your spot, and then we'll have, like, a little line to another area, and you can kind of move that area. Is this more like the spot healing tool info shop, where it just automatically doesn't correct with more than healing because it's grabbing all the surrounding of the area. It's not. You'll see, um, and we get the layers. You'll see where we can actually choose. Check Select from this area and he'll This one doesn't allow us to it. So it does all the surrounding mathematic albums and just doesn't. It doesn't allow you to select anything from another area. It does do a good job with it, though it does that in it, you know, it does do a good job. So once we once we get out of the spots and go back to the hand to write and want to resume in, we don't see them anymore. It does a really good job of blue skies, which is one of the most difficult once if they the gradation of that blue sky, just 67 spots in it. So I do like the strength of the algorithms. But man it If I get 100 megapixel file, right and I have to output this, this becomes a layered file and it becomes really big. I want to do it is an El Sisi. Instead, you're limited to 99. Yeah, I believe so. Yeah. Which on some images might be a much, but then the the work around was out and come back in again. Yeah, way that I mentioned no camera and get it. I would also want to repeat again that this is preparing capture one and photo shop is apples and oranges. So, like some really heavy lifting beauty skin work were touching on a portrait. That's a photo shop situation for sure, because all the techniques for that there there's a lot things you can sort of replicating. Capture one which I'm over later. But in general, if you're going to really heavy lifting skin work for portrait yeah, that that's ah, photo something for sure.

Yes, per some other reviews this started slow. What turned me off was the sales spiel for the class. It also came across as a sales schtick for C1, which is ok given the presenter. Stuck with it (well most of it, had to step away at times) and found it useful. I've had my eye on C1 for a LONG time. I'm not a pro, but would consider myself a pretty serious amateur. I document old mining and narrow gauge steam engines, general travel and now do our product photography (started a new company, so all $ goes to that rather than C1, which I would LOVE to own after seeing C9). Went with Aperture back in the day because of its cataloging and price. Back then C1 didn't have cataloging, though it DID have a 2 tier price structure...(Phase WHY did ya'll do away with this?????). Back to the class. After lunch on the first day I think they found their stride. Second day, especially Nino in the afternoon was quite good. That was probably my fav session. Seemed like most questions came from the in-studio "captive" audience. Expected more from the web? Constructive feedback. 1) Could have condensed things down quite a bit. I liked the more casual approach it took later on first day and on the second day. Dave especially seemed more at ease. 2) Ya'll (Dave especially) seemed to have his topics scripted out. Given the two day nature of this, would have been nice to give the attendees an idea of agenda/timeslots for topics up front. If an agenda/timeline was presented...I totally missed it. But then, I couldn't back up or rewind the live stream when I had to step away several times... if I paused it jumped to the realtime stream :-( 3) C Lve was pushing the "free trial download"...isn't there already a trial download from Phase? What value are ya'll offering in this area above what they offer? I found this annoying, if there's an extended trial period or something through ya'll cool. If not...I'm back to the annoying aspect of it. 4) Nino, get a Cintiq :-) If C1 doesn't have a profile for Cintiq (I'm going to download the trial from Phase) Phase you need to add support for it. 5) Dave's material he presented should be in vids on his website to help him expand his C1 market..fantastic selling tool there Dave....or even better....embedded in the product itself (ala SilverFast). Phase, you listening? 6) Nino, given he's coming from a different angle, eg no skin in selling C1?, he could do a 3-5 hour intensive vid(s) and I'd pay something for that. YMMV but I liked his approach and presentation. Was disappointed no C1 on his YouTube :-( Would I pay 99.00 for this class? Honestly, no. We use 3D graphics (ZBrush) and CAD (Rhino) in our company and have been learning those over the last year. To compare. There is another tutorial company whose name I shall not mention (no, it does not start with an 'L') that specializes in vid classes for those and other 3D products. They structure their offerings on a AFFORDABLE monthly/6mos/yearly all-you-can-eat fee structure. Much more consumer friendly, and quite honestly their videos are very focused and about 4-6 hours per course. I don't see myself paying 99.00 much less 129.00 for just one course like this (especially with the sales spiel content) when other companies have a more customer friendly consumption model. A value for the $ thing. In the end I did learn some things, and I'm glad I watched what I could of it. And yeah, I'm pretty sure after this review I just got taken off the free C1 license contention list...but I'm just being honest...Dave, I will be ordering some of the LCC pocket accessories if I ever get C1...those were cool IMHO. C1 has come quite a ways. When I can, I'll add it to our software arsenal.

I have been a user of Capture One for a couple of years but have strugled to get my head around the way to use this software as my chosen raw converter, I love the improved quality that Capture One gives me but always seem to end up scratching my head and going back to Lightroom to save time. I haven't been able to watch the full presentation due to time difference, (I am in the U.K), and other commitments but I have learnt so much in the time I have spent watching that I can finally see me waving goodbye to Lightroom in the very near future. The presenters are excellent teachers, they are funny, engaging and thanks guys you really have made a p[ositive difference to how I interact with Capture One software.
