Pets play a large part of every household, be it the best friend or first “child.”  Yet capturing their personalities is often more difficult than just a click of the shutter.  Instructor Norah Levine’s photographs are often defined by her clean compositions and authentic moments shared by people and their pets.  Now you can join Norah as she shows you the basics of pet behavior and how to get animals comfortable with the camera.  After this class, you’ll be able to capture great images of pets AND learn how to incorporate them into your family photography.

In this class you’ll learn:

  • How to incorporate pets into your family photography.
  • Gain an understanding of animal behavior and key body language cues.
  • Build a business model that allows you to appeal to commercial, private and nonprofit markets.

Some very key and important information about working with animals and how you can gauge how an animal is feeling and how the animal will respond as well as keeping the people happy and keeping tensions low. There are some fundamental photography questions presenting in this that every photographer should be asking themselves not just pet photographers. Most importantly the idea of capturing a feeling and not a technically nice photo. Which brings me onto an important point. There is nothing technical here. No camera settings, no explanation of lighting set ups, etc. It's raw expression and emotional impact.

I really liked this course. It gave me inspiration to set up my business. It could have had a bit more technical photography elements. But, as I don't need them that much for me it didn't matter, but I can imagine it could be helpful for beginners. For me the information on the business side was very valuable.

I took this class because Photography is a hobby of mine, and I wanted to learn more about Pet Photography. I was completely blown away by the amount that I learned from this class. If you've been thinking about doing more pet photography and am not sure where to start, this is the class for you. Norah did a great job of appealing to photographers of all levels, and seeing her in action makes this class even more amazing. Warning: this class will make you want to jump right into photographing pets any second you get!

Such a great class! I learned so much. It was amazing to see what Norah does in real-life situations.

  • Holly R. Aug 30, 2016

Norah is really great and I learned a lot watching her. Even non-pet related things, like how she's continually trying to better herself were really inspiring to me. Since watching this, I've learned to take every shoot as a learning opportunity by evaluating what went right and what didn't, and thinking of what I can do next time to do better. I liked the way she showed interacting with animals in a way that doesn't stress them (well, depending on the animal there may be some level of stress anyway I guess...) too. Great class.

At first, I thought this course would be something I would watch for awhile but not the entire thing. Boy, was I wrong! Every segment was jam packed with such valuable information, and Norah's candid style was invaluable in working through the decisions about whether (and how) to wade into pet photography. I found myself madly scribbling notes, but ultimately bought the course so I could re-visit the segments not easily captured via notes. Well worth it!

This course is fantastic. Norah is incredibly open and so easy to listen to and understand. The course is comprehensive from start to finish covering all aspects of a pet photography business. I especially loved watching the live shoots. Getting to see her process on location was priceless. I'm very glad she does consulting as I will be reaching out! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Really enjoyed and appreciated the entire class! Very helpful, as I want to do more "Puptraiture" (in addition to the Doggie-centric "Street Photography" which is my main obsession), Thanks Norah!!

  • Sarah D. Aug 25, 2016

This class is great for those who are interested in getting into the business of pet photography. I loved having the opportunity to observe Norah on so many shoots, both in studio and on location. She also does a great job in getting into the nuts and bolts of running a pet photography business.

I think the course has been informative and Norah has shared some great insights and I have loved seeing her work on set and at a client's home. I think this is the best pet photography course I have viewed so far.

  • Chelsea B. Aug 25, 2016

So inspiring! Great information on both family pet photography as a craft as well as the business side. Norah obviously knows what she's doing and has tons of experience, so it's a good chance to hear/see what it's really like to take this on as a specialty whether it's the focus of your work or one of many parts of your work. She focuses not just on the mechanics, but on the personal side of working with people and animals. You can tell she's passionate about what she does, too. It's only been one day of class and I already feel totally inspired!
