What can you do on Snapchat?

you already get started. Excellent. So what are some of the things you can do on Snapchat? Well, there's our little Snapchat ghost. He has an official name, but I just like to calm. Snappy. It just seems like that should be what he's called. First of all, it's social because, like other social networks, you can connect with other people and engage with them. You can have conversations, and because you have both photos and videos that you can use to create your Snapchat stories, you can engage with others in the same way. You know, video is just about the most social form of social that we have. It's one thing to use text words and be able to communicate, but we lose a lot with just text. We had pictures to it. Now we get a more personal look. We had video to it, and now we not only see it and hear it, but it becomes more believable because we see flesh and blood human beings moving, and we can really connect with people. So Snapchat is social. It's also used to inspire people. When you...

tell stories, you have an opportunity to share your life experiences your business experiences and affect a change in someone's life. Snapchat has the power to inspire. It is fun and I might look like a middle aged man. But I'm actually 12 years old and I like to play on the eternal teenager. And if something's not fun, then I'm not going to engage on that platform. If you tell me to get on a social platform and it feels like work, well, two things one I don't want to, because it doesn't sound like fun and to I'm not going to be effective on it. So if you're having fun on a social platform, you're more likely to be effective with it. Snapchat is just plain fun, and that's why I say today is going to be the most fun you're ever gonna have sitting in a creative life class because we're gonna be hands on with it. Snapchat is from learning. If you have content that can educate people and inform them or if you are looking toe learn, you can learn from Snapchat and you can teach through Snapchat. We're getting all meta because that's exactly what we're gonna do here today. All of these things Snapchat is a place to be creative, whatever your level of creativity. Do you have any art? See people sitting here that can draw Excellent. I can draw a stick, man. A really good one. But I can draw stick man. Other than that, I'm not really good. But if you are good with art, you're going to discover the tools in Snapchat to do some really amazing things and you're going to see some of those things. If you are musically inclined, Snapchat might provide it outlet for your creativity. If you are a storyteller, Snapchat can provide outlet for your creativity. You're going to discover whatever that thing is that you do really well, you're going to get toe leverage Snapchat to tell the world about it. Snapchat is a great place to discover, just like you've got something really unique that you want to say to the world. There are how many others? Well, we know at least 150 million that are on Snapchat that have unique stories to tell and so you can discover things that you didn't know in people that you didn't know that can teach you that can inspire you that can entertain you That can make you laugh. That can make you cry on Snapchat so it brings us closer together. It is entertaining if you're snapping, right And if you're following people who are doing it right and your Snapchat detector is gonna be finally tuned today, you're gonna know the content that you view Is this solid? Do I want to follow this person or they bring me value? Or do we need to tune this out? And it's going to challenge you to create content that people are going to say, I want to follow this person and watch them every day. This is solid content. And finally, for many who are watching Snapchat is about business. They want to know how well Snapchat increase my r a y. My return on investment may take a little philosophical side Note here on R A Y and social media. I don't look at social media is our ally. I look at it is r o E. Return on engagement. Return on experience is the return on the relationships that I build in the process of using social media because ultimately nobody here and nobody at home is in the business of selling a product or service. Are you saying what That doesn't make any sense? You're not. You're not in the business of selling a product or service. You are in the business of serving people through the product or service that you're offering. Because ultimately, if you don't have people, human beings who are going to buy and consume your product, you don't have ah, business at all. And so all social media but especially Snapchat is not about If I spend X amount of dollars, how much can I expect in return? It's about building the experience and engagement with an audience that will get toe like no entrust. Use of the transaction can take place, and we'll be talking more about that as well. Now I want to give you an example of a Snapchat story as we get started today, that kind of sets the tone and brings together all of these elements the inspiration, the learning, the discovering, the creative aspect, the entertaining aspect, the fun aspect and and the business aspect. And this is a gentleman them in introduce you here via a Snapchat story that he created. His name is Sean and Ella. Sean is, ah, marketing manager over it best by, but he is also a Snapchat enthusiast and does some incredibly creative stuff. Now, when you see what he's done here, I don't want you to feel like Oh, I can never do that. Okay? This is not to put pressure on anybody. It's to show you what is possible. Sean was asked to take over the San Diego Chargers Snapchat account, and this is a short story that he did that will demonstrate for you. Hey, guys. Shawn Ayala here, an interactive artist on Snapchat taken over the account today, and it's time for training Camp Snapchat now. Do you have what it takes to complete a Chargers Snapchat training? Well, let's see, cause in the next few snaps you'll be tapping through a tire drill training. When you see the tap button appear on the screen, tap it to start getting through each time. Nice. I told you you could do it. Great job. Now we want a feature your successful charger thumbs like this one creative posting the Twitter and instagram with the hashtag charger snaps so we can feature last thing If you enjoyed today's snatch at games. Click on her name. Hit that share button or screenshot the next. Now share it with a friend about that. That is incredible stuff. You see all the different things that he's done here. Now check this out. He's got in their interaction and engagement from those who snapped him back. So these are all other people who sent them. Hit, sent him there, snaps. Some of them sent on instagram. I don't think I could even draw that well from Canada Chargers fan. By the way, I'm from Denver. So go Broncos. What? Uh, look at that engagement. So you see all the different aspects that are brought together here in this one simple story? Yes, it's about business. A brand paid him to come in and do this story on their channel. Now any of us can do this on any of our own brands. But he has engaged in audience that are now closely tied to this brand and engaged with it by the simple storytelling. You guys are amazing. If you want to see some more charges. Thumbs. Check out chargers dot com again. Sean Ayala here signing out great stuff How would you like to meet Sean? Well, he's gonna be joining us today Live via Skype. And we're actually gonna be featuring several other prolific snap chatters that are all using Snapchat in unique in different ways to engage with their audience. And they're gonna be joining us through the course of the day today. Now everybody is on social. In some respect, you might be on Facebook. You might be on Twitter. You might already be snapping completely. Encourage you to take your device out. Let's mute them, OK, so we don't get that rings. Well, we're on today, but you are encouraged to take pictures of myself of the screens of each other and share on social media today. And you can tag me at Joel Com. You can also tag creative life in any post that you make. Uh, and if you want to tell people where they can watch today's training that short, you are all right. There com dot us forward slash c l snap. In fact, if you want to take a picture of that or write it down so you can refer to it later. Many times people will use custom geofilters such as the one that you see on the left in order to brand their snaps, and we'll be talking more about those later. But whether you're on Facebook, Twitter, instagram, Snapchat or any other platform, you can go ahead and use this Teoh to get started.
