Meet the Mentors: Tammy Zurak Allen

tammy um hashtag I want to kick you in the face just traded that what I love about timmy superpowers he comes from corporate america in corporate corporate anywhere I've read lean in by sheryl sandberg great book if you wantto think about corporate any life leaning one of the first chapters and lean and states that internationally right now women in power women and a ceo positions fortune five hundred fortune five thousand politics leading the way and percentages is new zealand at nineteen percent I quite happily stand in front of you as a capable woman proud of my culture that we are allowing women teo in almost the same amount of money is mean and have positions in power now australia is at twelve percent in america is it stephen I'm not asking you to be ceos of fortune five hundred forty five thousand cos I'm asking you to embrace a business in your own house or get a studio that embraces a very well paying lucrative job but the essence is today is you have to be in business to do t...

his there are fundamentals that you need to loon in terms of pricing yourself and receiving money that our business only they don't have anything to do with ego or emotion or contrast ing or comparing or being good enough they have solely to do with business is business so when I talked to tammy because of her history in corporate world I feel like timmy already walked that path I feel like timmy was already ahead of me and like I said before when you're selling thirty thousand dollars packages it stands to reason that selling a three thousand package is a joke and that's why had I gone to somebody like timmy back then I don't think te me even as a friend or a mama and auntie or a business coach or whatever she would have been to me when I was starting out I don't think she could have taught me that lesson until she did it and so when she went from corporate to things that could she found selling easy and went to my top package as she developed a brand but she also understood that business is business and went straight up jumped a level and that is significant to me so all of you out there that are wondering can you transition from a corporate job into being a self employed at us yes she is living proof can you be okay with I'm charging money be okay with receiving money and go straight to selling a brand in a product you she can tell me is that improve what did you struggle with if that wasn't your head always your struggle because it's got to be some struggle initially my biggest struggle was bums on seats to use your words nobody knew who I waas so you know I spent a lifetime building a corporate career and I landed in a new town where nobody knew who I was and I was on the road all the time so I didn't even have local friends really too help me market myself nobody knew me so michael you know is I want a studio I want two people you want to shoot people but nobody they don't know what glamour is number one and they don't know who I am number two so both of those air about so initially I don't have a lot of business you know I had a great place I had skills I had you know the experience but I didn't have any bodies so for me the greatest struggle was getting more people to understand what it is I dio and then want to have that for themselves so it took me probably eight months to really establish myself and I would I do now is which is now I kind of went from that was a hurdle I don't have anyone teo I spent a day a week marketing myself I'm out talking to people meeting people over and over and over again and making those touches so over time it's taken a good you know six eight twelve months for them to say oh I can't let you do and I want that now or to tell their friends you know they come in and then their friends see it and now it's a flow off oh my friend do that oh so how did you deal with the no aspect so when you said that I did it over and over again until they got it that tells me you were speaking to the same person more than once well and yet most people can't even walk into an establishment like mine back into one after they're being asked to leave it you know what I mean so it's intriguing to me that you say and I went back again and talk to that how did you deal with that upfront cold cell now well for me my background in it's been twenty five years in sales and sales management so for me no is like great because I'm one I'm one more closer to yes when you tell me no there's just you know I just have to ask you two or three more times maybe for to get you to yes so once you it's not nobody buys you upfront they have to get to know you and trust you and understand that what you could do for them israel because they don't believe it's real they don't think they don't look at the pictures on the wall and see that's me they say that some pretty model that's not me so I have to show and that's really where it comes down to it I just show my work I showed before and after here's what my clients all look like and here's what they look like after khun I could look like that and that's where it comes but it takes I never sell the first time when I'm just meeting people on the street or out marketing it's that two or three and they trust me then they get to know me they like me hopefully and that's why they come in so the difference between you and may although it took me longer to get there in terms of where I'm selling myself the difference between you and me is if somebody says no to me they'll never see me again it's like you have now you cease to exist on this planet uh I wouldn't even if I saw you in a mall I'd be like oh no you know the concept of what you just said to me a is a breakthrough for me and I've seen twenty six years so when I go to the nine areas of mastery and I said you never really master each section has still master ring each section mastery for me would be okay with that no somehow the wood rejection sits very heavily on my chest and the idea that somebody doesn't like me hurts me so the fact that you say it like that that it's only a matter of time before you actually show them the truth is I believe the truth to be that I'm not good enough when they reject me not that the truth is you're still good enough you just haven't managed to convert them yet to what they're doing it's this eye opening to you like is this absolutely blowing your mind every single one of you have just been on this extraordinary path and every single one of you have this incredible power I want every one of you to ride a blogged for me so I can update people over the next six months on your one thing retreats and studio building you a studio in prizing yourself your new design and selling yourself you know I'm getting to you two are getting to you three hiker is going to be a destination portrait shoots in europe that I'm gonna be the first one she photographs and italy which I'm really excited about being on the front cover of her brought a big gown summary blowing in the wind you know eating pizza on all of you are doing something extraordinary I want you to write more about this tim e I love that idea I love that right now in this moment head I heard this information this way eighteen years ago my life would have been significantly different I feel like you are a one by one empowering me and releasing me in one area and I feel like after twenty six years my area of master is still jolted in some places all right so this is tommy's work this is his studio so you have a studio outside of your heart okay I'm gonna come back to this cause I just wantto um make a note all the beautiful portrait's in the world this is gonna there's gonna have to have all the beautiful portrait you could make this one day are expendable portrait that this girl even no amount of money well being more important in this photograph to that good if something ever happened to this girl this would be the most important portrait this woman would ever I'm so you can buy flowers you khun by throw dresses you can you know by wardrobe in a coup truman but this is the truth of what we do and I need you to understand the value of that do you I understand what you've done here you've stopped time for these people you have put something on paper that will for ever change their lives this will be the most valuable thing that their children I'm one day if not now I can't teach people enough the power of what we do so value it don't tell me you can't charge for this it is with something it is with its white and gold and it will be a direct reflection of what you think it's with so please see that
