Alright so this is the section where we will be combining the information that we've learned in the previous sections: the shutter speeds, the apertures, the ISOs, and really combine them cause we should have a core understanding of how each of those works individually, but now it's time to combine those all together in the exposure section. This is the clash of all the features that we are having in our cameras. Now before we get into this, let's have a little bit of fun People go through a lot of equipment, and they're kind of wondering "what's the next best piece of equipment to get". And so let me explain what happens with most photographers over a period of time. Well, these days they'll start with a phone, and that'll take care of photography needs for quite a while but they'll wanna get something that's a little better quality, that's got a few more options to it, so they'll end up getting a point-and-shoot camera. But then they quickly realize that they can do a lot more if the...
y had an SLR camera. And usually when they get this camera, they're gonna get the standard little kit, 18-55 lens, along with maybe another 55-200 type lens. And at this point, they work for a while, and then they go, "I don't like changing lenses back and forth, maybe I can get one lens that does everything", and so then they go and they get something like an 18-200 lens, so that they don't have to zoom back and forth. And then they don't have to change lenses anymore, they just zoom, but then they realize that the aperture of that lens isn't as fast as the other lenses, and so they gotta go out, and they have to buy a lens that has a faster aperture, but this lens doesn't have as much range, so they have to go out and they have to buy other telephoto version of that lens because, well, they need to get their range back. And at that point, they need to upgrade the camera, because now they're not just an entry-level photographer, they need to get something a little bit fancier on the camera side, and then they're looking at their lens system, and they think "you know what, I really don't have a really good wide-angle lens, I need to get ultra-wide", and so then they gotta get an ultra-wide to complement that at which point they might get distracted and need a fish-eye lens, cause those things are just so cool and they're not that much money. And so, at this point, they're thinking "you know what, there's still a zoom lens that has a faster aperture", cause we can go all the way totally pro, and then we're gonna need to upgrade the telephoto version and get a faster telephoto version as well. So we've made a lot of changes and now, it's finally the time to upgrade to a full-frame camera. And so now, you've really gotten serious, and at this point, you're gonna start looking at other options and going "you know what, micro photography sounds kind of interesting, I gotta try my hands on micro photography", and this is your first fixed focal length lens. And you suddenly understand, what all these photographers are talking about in fixed focal length lenses, and so you quickly go out and buy a normal 50mm F/1.4 lens and that's gonna lead you into wanting to get a wide angle prime lens and a telephoto prime lens, cause now you have these really fast lenses out there. Well, at this point, you're all in. And it's time to go full pro, top of the line camera, everything's on the line here, and at this point, "you know what, I'm gonna try a tilt shift lens, that's where I need to be, and at this point, there's really nothing else to do other than get one of the gigantic monster telephoto lenses" because you gotta have that experience. And you work with all of this equipment, and you go "this is a lot of gear to carry around, what would really make me happy is something a little bit smaller, a little big lighter weight, just like that tiny little point-and-shoot that I started with". And you'll come back to this. And so this is a common problem that people have, accumulating, accumulating, and then they strip it all away and go back down to the bare basics. And then we go through that cycle, as many times as we possibly can.

Love love all John Greengo classes! Wish to have had him decades ago with this info, but no internet then!! John is the greatest photography teacher I have seen out there, and I watch a lot of Creative Live classes and folks on YouTube too. John is so detailed and there are a ton of ah ha moments for me and I know lots of others. I think I own 4 John Greengo classes so far and want to add this one and Travel Photography!! I just drop everything to watch John on Creative Live. I wish sometime soon he would teach a Lightroom class and his knowledge on photography post editing.!!! That would probably take a LOT OF TIME but I know John would explain it soooooo good, like he does all his Photography classes!! Thank you Creative Live for having such a wonderful instructor with John Greengo!! Make more classes John, for just love them and soak it up! There is soooo much to learn and sometimes just so overwhelming. Is there anyway you might do a Motivation class!!?? Like do this button for this day, and try this technique for a week, or post this subject for this week, etc. Motivation and inspiration, and playing around with what you teach, needed so much and would be so fun.!! Just saying??? Awaiting gadgets class now, while waiting for lunch break to be over. All the filters and gadgets, oh my. Thank you thank you for all you teach John, You are truly a wonderful wonderful instructor and I would highly recommend folks listening and buying your classes.

I don't think that adjectives like beautiful, fantastic or excellent can describe the course and classes with John Greengo well enough. I've just bought my first camera and I am a total amateur but I fell in love with photography while watching the classes with John. It is fun, clear, understandable, entertaining, informative and and and. He is not only a fabulous photographer but a great teacher as well. Easy to follow, clear explanations and fantastic visuals. The only disadvantage I can list here that he is sooooo good that keeps me from going out to shoot as I am just glued to the screen. :-) Don't miss it and well worth the money invested! Thank you John!

Wow! John is THE best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of learning from, and this is the most comprehensive, eloquent and fun course I have ever taken (online or off). If you're even / / interested in photography, take this course as soon as possible! You might find out that taking great photos requires much more work than you're willing to invest, or you might get so excited learning from John that you'll start taking your camera with you EVERYWHERE. At the very least, you'll learn the fundamental inner workings and techniques that WILL help you get a better photo. Worried about the cost? Well, I've taken courses that are twice as expensive that offer less than maybe a tenth of the value. You'll be much better off investing in this course than a new camera or a new lens. I cannot reccomend John and this course enough!
