Instagram Effeciencies: IFTTT

segment is all about efficiency. Saving time. Time is money, and you absolutely want to put those efficiencies toe work so you can have more time making money doing what you love. So one of the efficiencies that I use every day is my notes. I copy and paste my hashtags over two notes. I also have shown you in the past few days how we do microblogging, which is absolutely a video, a bonus video that you want to learn how to get these bars, these numbers to space things out so that when people actually read your post on INSTAGRAM, they can follow your thoughts and conversation very easily. It's just a really clean way to do that. And so, by taking content from notes, copying and pasting, it saves me time. I don't think a lot. Another thing. As you could see from the stage yesterday. What I did with Nathan is I talked to the phone a lot to say, even typing time. Can anyone here think of another efficiency, a quick one that they're using? I do use notes, and as a photographer, I'm not a sp...

ecialist, so I don't just do weddings. I do seniors and weddings and dancers and families. And so what I do in my notes as I actually have saved notes. So I have one that's just for dancers, and I have all of my hashtags for dancers. At week's end, it was photographers. When you're jumping around from one client to another, could be hard to manage that. So the notes thing has been tremendously huge for me. Great. Yes, Catherine, I started to keep. I found that they were not in alphabetical order. I didn't know how Toe say, you know, rinds them. So I also put them in Evernote Perfect that I highly recommend ever notes as well. Yes, I keep things in notes that I need, like instantly, ever notes is where I keep all my folders and organize them to your point that you don't number them and you can have a whole long stream of notes. It's the quickest place for me to put it and now bring it over to ever notes after so another efficiency that I used within the app I've talked about this apple lot word Swag is the re swag feature because I don't have timeto work with a graphic designer a lot, and I want to get a certain look and feel. And if you go to my Supes Zimmerman account and you look at the post before Justine where I did this morning at 4 30 in the morning, which says go to sue, be Zimmerman dot com to download the seven things not to do on instagram. So this is a pdf download for everybody, but it took me 1234 five Reese wags to get this toe look this way. Now I did a re swag video as a bonus to the course that gives you the step by step. But I'm going to show it to you visually what I did with this post. I was recently in Atlanta and I saw this painted wall. Of course I had to take a picture on instagram it. And now there was chalk there, and I could have written on the chalk on the wall with the chalk. But I knew no one would see it would have been small. So I wanted to use words swag to re swag to get the text exactly where I wanted to put it. So I did it. Once I said I want to help. And then I did another text. I think I used 20 leagues. That was the type style. I used a word swag to do this. And then under that, I put thousands of businesses and then I re swagged it again. Now, these different, these three steps could be three different colors of text or three different styles of text. I wanted it to feel more like I was writing with chalk on the background, so it would go with with what I wanted to say. And then I said, make more money. So how appropriate is that s o this. This was just an example of the efficiencies, right within the app of using wards rag to re swag to get different textiles and different spacing. Because inwards wagyu cannot always get the spacing exactly as you want it. If you have a lot of words there. So again, if you go to sue, be Zimmerman account, you will see that Starfish Ward swag. And I want to give a shout out here because I did take a screenshot of this photographer who created this amazing photo. And I wrote at the very. My very first comment was toe let people know that I gave out a credit to the photographer. I said photo credit goes to Cardinal Melon. So Caroline, who's with us in the audience as a photographer, you know, had said at break. I want credit for all my photos and I hear her. I hear all of you that are photographers. You want to get credit. I honor that so much I typically reposed with repost with. But I knew in this post that I didn't want it to be a part of the text that I was sharing. So instead of doing it that way, I tagged the photo with the artist, the photographer. I also gave the credit photo in the comments below. So that's another way that you could do that. Okay, So I'm really excited to continue on this path of efficiencies. The sex segments, all about efficiencies and I want to bring carry onto the stage and you again. All the names are in the back and sue be instigated lives. You confined her very easily. Now Kerry was a student just like all of you watching on my last course and I want her to come up and tell the story in a minute of how she found me and reached out to me so that she could share some efficiencies. Because I've said before, I do not know everything I learned from all of you. You were all instagram users, and you love the apa's Muchas ideo. And I learned from you. So Carrie is absolutely proficient in talking about and teaching. If this then that. And she taught me some great tricks and tips for our business to be more efficient so that we could spend less time doing certain things and more time making money. So this is her her bio, which we worked with together to get it all aligned so that you know exactly what she does. And she really is an eBay expert, among other things. So it gives me great pleasure to bring carry up to the stage so that she can share with all of you how to be more efficient in your business. Um que This is Okay, So I'm gonna have you stand here in the limelight for one minute. It's right here. Says the limelight. Hello, world. Give a whole world right in the O. So first, tell your story real quick on this connection. The connection through the course, what value you got from it and how you reached out to me to share some knowledge that I didn't have and collaborate with and share and that we're going to share with all of you very soon. Right? So I got extremely inspired after the first creativelive presentation with Sue, when I realized I'm gonna need more than one instagram account, basically one for each business that I had. So I went crazy, created three different accounts, and I want to feed all of my instagram information to Twitter. And so I was listening really carefully about how Sue was doing that, using the instagram app. But it was only sending over the captions and not the photos. And for my purposes and for probably many of you as well, you really need those photos I'm selling on eBay. I'm selling antique vintage estate items of very unique. I need those pictures over on Twitter. So I was reading through some newsletters and found out about I have t t t. If this then that I call it ift So today I'm going to teach you the gift of ift. Wait just to clarify so on Instagram, when you share from Instagram to Twitter, it shares as a link, not as a photo. So you So you want to get that rial estate in Twitter so people can see the photo as well? So this is what she's going to show you, which is really exciting, right? Yeah, I got really excited about it. And I posted a note how excited that it was in the instagram results Facebook group. And Su said, What is this? Right? So I do had a free Facebook group. Instagram results is over 3000 wonderful people in that community all helping and sharing information, their instagram addicts just like you. And this is where you posted that. And when she posted that, I'm like, I need to know more that because I do see those posts. And so that's how we connected, right? So So I am so excited for you to jump in and start sharing with everyone how to do just that. Okay, so the tool is basically a web tool and you need to sign up on sign up with your email and I reckon men signing up with your email that matches up with your instagram it account. And the idea is it's kind of ah, macro. So a little bit of code that makes one Social Media Channel talk to another social media channel. So you only have one place that you consent, but you can set up multiple recipes. And that's when I started really getting into this tool. Um, for this course, we're going to talk about Instagram and Instagrams, one of the channels that actually has a lot of options that you can choose so you can send photos. You can send photos with specific tags. You can send videos to another channel, and I'm gonna show you someone's I created specifically four Instigate a live for today that are really fun. So the first thing is go to I f t t t ift dot com and set up your account. And then there's all these channels, which are the social media channels. So you have instagram twitter, tumblr, flicker, dropbox. Just there's, I think, 500 trans lineup, right free, Totally free. Okay, so I love that, and I need to be really efficient in my business because I'm basically a one woman show. I have some part time people, but I also have another job, and I'm just trying to balance everything. So all of the places where I can automate things or outsource tasks really, really helped. So I got really excited about this. Um, set up your account, and then the channels could be activated. As you start a recipe. I know I'm right before lunch, so way talking about recipes won't make you really hungry, But that's what they're called. There's a little bit of terminology in the tool. So with that, I'm just gonna go ahead and kind of dive in so we can understand. Um, I have a number of recipes that I've created my personal tab here, and you can feel to them These are all of the channels that I'm personally using. And if activated, once you activate your channel for Twitter, you've done it once. You don't have to do it again. When you pull in a recipe, it knows. So I'm gonna filter by instagram, and you can see this particular one is grey. So that means this one is not, um active right now. Sometimes I just use them for a little while. I'm doing some research. I like to keep my Twitter one on. Here's one that sends to my Facebook page. So when you see the color, it means it's active. Yeah, and so, yeah, So these air, the colorful ones are active, and you can kind of see how they broken up the first portion of the recipe, the if part, And then the result is the then part. So these are the little actions that you can take, and I'll talk a little bit more about this. But this is basically where you turned the recipe often on. So I want to go into the recipes that I created specifically for us to talk about and the way you do that you can browse and there's so many creative people on here with recipes that don't make any sense for business. But they're fun to read. But, um, you can search by channel for hashtag. So I named these and stick out live. All right, so I'm gonna go ahead and search and there's three so you can go ahead and grab these. This one, you can see this instagram to Twitter. I named it so that you know, you're posting a photo and a caption to Twitter as an image. And my Twitter handle is also at elegant K B. I think I didn't have time to post this morning because I was driving here. But you can see some of the post that I made yesterday and what they look like from I f t t T. Now it looks a little bit different when you're looking on the computer, you'll actually see I have t t t as part of the URL link. When you're looking on the mobile phone. I don't think you see that. I think it looks just like any other photo posts that I've made to Twitter. So that's really, really cool. You can see three people or two people have added it. It's a public recipe at three. People have favorited it now. The other thing that I'm really, really excited about are there any questions about the instagram to Twitter recipe? I can show you also how we create it. But I wanted Teoh, you know, explain how that's a really great efficiency. This one. I love this if you use Google drive. I love this. Um I set this one up with the insta girl live spreadsheet. I don't know about all of you, but are you trying to follow people in this community going through and yeah, I want to follow that person and this person. Well, I don't have to go in on my phone because I've created this Google dry spreadsheet. This is magic. And this I wish I could show you the results. I'm gonna explain at what it looks like. It sets up automatically a little folder in your Google drive. I have Tichy t will be the name of it by default and that it adds a row to the spreadsheet. It has the day, the user name, the caption that they've written and a You are a link to their photo. You can see a little thumbnail of their photo. So if you have your instagram account open next to this spreadsheet, you can just click on those. Oh, that looks like somebody I want to follow. You don't have to spend time going into each post looking at their caption looking at their bio seen if they're real, you know someone you really want to connect with. So this is an instant timesaver. It's out there for the community, and you congrats this recipe and use it as one of your own by changing elegant KB to urinate When you say grab it, they just need to search and still alive. And then, yeah, So you would just click on the name. Yeah. And then you would go in? Yeah, Ed, Ash and address. It's gonna look a little bit different because this is my personal recipe. But you go ahead at the recipe at the bottom and then edit It puts your name where my name is if you want to save it to a different folder name in your Google drive. And like I said, it will ask you to activate the account at the time that you're using it. So be ready. You know, have your password information for your Twitter account and your Google ready to go. Great. So that that I was really excited to learn that I can really quickly see those on the other one. I'm just gonna talk about it was an insta girl live geo tag, which was really cool to see you have a chance of Geo tagged that I'm here today. We will. But people that are in the area of four for four diro street in San Francisco are getting saved to that Google drive. Um, spreadsheet. I didn't know that court on Blue was down the street s I looked at. Some of the results are, like others a cooking school, so you can kind of filter the results people who are at the cooking class and people who are at creativelive using the hash tag in single live in their captions. That's another way to look at the data that you can get from this tool and just really, you know, figure out who you want to connect with. I think I have a few minutes left. I want to show you how to create a recipe. I want to make sure we have time for questions. You have seven minutes left. So good. Yeah, To be honest, I'm watching their faces, and I'm sure there's some coming in through. This is one of the bonuses we talked about, but you'll Yes, OK, so that's good, because the recipe people have a lot of questions about this because they're like a channel ingredient. What? I dio and I wanted to make this really easy for you to get going because I know you don't have very much time like me. So if you go in to my recipes, you can see this blue button right here and create a recipe so we'll do an instagram one as an example. So I've already activated my Instagram channel, and the first thing you do is you describe what the first action trigger action is going to be. So choose your trigger trigger channel. I'm going to she's instagram instagrams. Great, because there are 12 different things that you can choose, so it's rigor to trigger. So, um, I like to do a new photo by anyone tag new photo by specific user photos that I've done. If I'm gonna be collecting them and I'm gonna go ahead and say any video that I'm doing, um, you probably can't see the little fine print underneath each one of these actions That kind of describes a little bit better, But the thing to Dio is just dive in, create a recipe and test it. That's how I really got started. So I'm gonna create a video our ah, recipe with a video by me. And then there's no other fields to complete here. I just create the trigger. Then you'll notice. Well, let me get into this next one than that. My that is I'm just going to do, I think, email. Okay, so every time you upload a video to Instagram, it's gonna email me, and then I can forward to people or whatever if I have a team or somebody that I want to show a video. Um, but what I want to show is I would choose the action. What I'm going to show is that each step you can click back settlement. You know what that is? That's not gonna work. I want to go back and do something else. An email digest. You can go back and you could go keep going all the way back. So that is really really um I think efficient way to use it. And, um, what I want to do now, I want to go into a recipe. You can look at the inside ingredients. So I told you I would just want to cover these action buttons right here, because what you'll find is when you create a recipe, you know how sometimes you see the Twitter fail well, right, these things happen. What you'll do is like I posted that on INSTAGRAM, and I'm checking my Twitter feed. It's not showing up, so what's what's going on with that? You'll go and to here. And if you see this log is read, it just means those servers something happened and you gotta turn it off, turn it back on and then you'll be good, just like the chat room. One of the other things I want to point out with posting to Twitter. Sue has a really good content strategy where she's using the dash bars and the you hashtags and stuff. I had to revise my strategy a little bit, because if I'm going to be pushing Instagram posts to Twitter, I can't start with a bunch of bars. I have to start with the 140 characters that make sense for Twitter, and I usually like to put to Hashtags within that it's perfect. And then whatever else comes after that, so you'll see when you try it. How you want to, um, you know, Make your content work for where you're pushing it too. Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and look inside the recipe. This is editing the recipe, turning often on, and this is refreshing it. So what I wanted to show you There's things called ingredients in each recipe and it will look like this bar here. See where it says so. Source. U R L If you click in these fields, what should happen is you get a little ingredient icon, so you can add different ingredients to what you want to push out there. So let's I want to say the date that this is going on. I want to say the user name. I want to say the caption. I wanna have the URL trying to think if there's anything else important, there may be the modified date. Like all this kind of metadata that goes along, you can grab those in each channel that use has different ingredients that you can shoes. So sorry it doesn't look to fix this, So let's just take a way that would be awesome. If we could do that Absolutely. Because, um, somebody was asking. The recipes that you're using are they already public ones. Are you creating from scratch those air public? And that's what I want the gift of If it is for you to go sign up for the site search instead, girl live Grab that hashtag insta Got a live one because you're part of the community. Start using that. You can switch out that, um hashtag for other things You want to research? I have multiple hashtag, uh, spreadsheets going on. If I want US research contest giveaway. So does that answer. It doesn't thank you for that. Let's try it again. When we get to the page, let's try refreshing and see if that makes an impact. Right, So we go it it worked on this dropbox one. I wasn't thrilled with the results for Dropbox, cause it's just sending, like a link to a Europe. You are all I really like the spreadsheet one but what I was trying to show you, but we could go back to try, but I think it was Oh, here. That's what I was trying to show you go into your actions and you can add different ingredients. So I want you to know that you can come down and grab the caption. Add ingredients. You can grab the user name, add ingredient Okay. And I usually leave the place where it's going to default. I just turned often on the recipes as I need them. Um, so hopefully that helps you as you get in here and get started. Don't get intimidated by this, you know, coding. It's got recipes out there for you all to use. And I also use some other really valuable recipes. I have another INSTAGRAM account. That's Ah, um, pushes to Tumbler. I have a really cute Christmas blawg and, um, also pushing to flicker. I just go in when I'm, you know, waiting at the orthodontist are waiting to pick somebody up, and I just go into flicker, and I you set up the hash tags that can go with that, and I'll be like, Oh, say those hashtags but at a couple others. So it's saving you a ton of time saving me a ton of time, and I can just update, you know, the information, the captions and the hashtags when I have a few minutes here and there. But it's getting the content out there, and that's the main thing is, I've already gotten comments over on Flicker and yeah, you know, favorites on my instagram posts out on Twitter. So it's really exciting. Yes, I talk about this great bonus that you supply to everybody. Okay, Notice somebody kind of asked if these that were out there publicly, Um, what's really cool once you set up your account, so I'm out on the site is elegant. Kb um, all of the recipes that I'm creating, you can just search for me. And, um, look at all those recipes. So there is one that's pushing to Tom, though there is one that's pushing a flicker one that's pushing the Facebook there is the one that you can use for hashtag research trying O um, tumblers. Interesting. Because you can push it as a draft to save for later, which I really like to do on tumbler because people are only on there at night. Created this special I created special, um, you know, recipes that you can go and just grab. And then in the handout, it says what to how to do to revise them so that you can use them. There's more. There's more information cause it's really hard to share it. Yeah, and there's also the step by step on, how to use the recipe on how to find it and then edit it. Because I know this is thing is, you know, a lot of information, but really, it didn't take me that long when I got my account set up. You know, allow yourself 20 minutes. Just get in there and start using one of the recipes and see what your results are. A couple of very quick questions. Eso will the I f t t t work if the hashtag trigger is in a comment versus the initial Instagram photo Post text. No, it's you're going to be the hashtag trigger will work for the initial post. Not for the comment on We just want to make absolutely short. Does all of this work on PC or is it a Mac and IPhone? It's completely compatible with everything. Do you think? Honestly, I haven't tried it on my phone because I really just set it up on my computer and then I just look for the results. Will my phone when I have time, this is a Mac. That's the first time I've done it here, so definitely cross platform. You get a website? No problem. Yeah, Yeah. Oh, great. Thank you. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. This is fantastic. Great. Really good. Saving time, right? Yeah. And be sure to favorite ones that you like her on Instagram. She's awesome, right? Thank you.

What a phenomenal course. Thank you, Ann, and the team at Creative Live for this jam-packed class. I'll be honest, when I signed up I wasn't sure how there could be three days worth of information on Instagram. However this content-rich class was filled to the brim with wonderful ideas, tools and inspiration for cultivating success on the platform. I'd been struggling with attuning as to how to best use Instagram for my business - I didn't want to be posting pictures of my lunch, cat or shoes; and I didn't want to simply recycle graphics from Facebook. What I really wanted was to learn how to fully utilize this platform to build my tribe, market my business and connect with others. This course delivered all that and more. Sue is a great teacher and her heartfelt style of marketing and sales really fits with my own approach to business. Every day I learned dozens of ideas that I could immediately implement and my mind is buzzing with inspiration and ways to authentically use Instagram to connect with my tribe. I've been recommending this class to everyone I know. I loved it so much that I purchased Sue's first class, Instagram Marketing for Small Businesses. A lovely bonus of taking Sue's classes is that you can connect with her Instagallive tribe, too. I've been meeting wonderful people and making great connections in the community. If like me, you're a solo-entrepreneur looking for a way to bring authentic marketing to your business, I highly recommend Sue's classes. (P.S. I was blessed to get to attend this class in studio at Creative Live. It was beyond amazing. If you ever get the chance to go to a Creative Live event in-studio or take one of Sue's live classes or events, do it. You will come away feeling inspired and energized for sure!)
