Bonus Video with Purchase: Create/Convert to a Business Account

in this video, I'm going to be walking you through how to set up a Pinterest account for your business, and this is very exciting. You're in the right place because research shows us that people like brands better and are more likely to buy after viewing their Pinterest page. Now, a very new ah recent update is that Pinterest now officially has business pages. So this is very exciting because before we were trying to use personal accounts as a business page. But there is a way to either join as a business now or to convert your existing account to a business account. And where you can do both of those actions is at business dot Pinterest dot com, and I'll be walking you through both steps, and we're also going to walk through the business site for Pinterest users because there's some great resource is that I want you to be aware of. But I want to show you what you'll actually see when you do go to create a business account. So you're starting with no prior existing account. You will be...

asked to fill in a few different fields, such as selecting your type of business on the contact name or the person that is managing your account. Putting your email. Address your password, which you'll use toe log in either that or your Facebook or Twitter logging you can choose, and you'll also want to notice this area right here. Business name. Now This is where you'll want to enter the name of your brand or business, because this is what will show publicly at the top of your Pinterest profile. So even if you're a personal brand, you'll want to put your name there. Whatever name you want, the page to be titled as additionally, I want you to pay attention to your user name. Your user name is important because this is what will be your specific U R L directly to your Pinterest page. So you wanted to actually be your brand name or your name? Whatever name you want potential customers or clients to be using to visit your page directly, and they also will give you a prompt to place your logo here. Now, this isn't have to be your logo. This could be any image that you want to be used at the top of your profile and Also, this will be the image that will appear whenever you comment or repent or do something, This will be your profile. Ah, the images associated with your profile. So if you're a personal brand, this could be a picture of you. If you wanna have just a really great product image something like that, a very colorful eye catching something that you know is high aesthetic quality. That's what you want to actually put in this area. But for you, your logo makes sense. That is great, too. Now, if you are going to convert a business account, you'll see the same steps but will have. What will happen is that you will also see it will be priests filled out. So whatever you had in your existing account, it will be already filled out in this field. And you can see this is for if you are setting up your account for the first time or setting up your account and just converting it, you will want to fill in your about section. You couldn't really see it on the slide before because I was zoomed in. But even if you're setting up your account for the first time you'll want to fill out your about section because this is what's going to show at the top of your profile. So at the very top of your profile, and it's very important that this is a clear Ah, very direct statement, you only have 200 characters, so not a lot of room to write things. And a lot of business owners make the mistake of writing something kind of silly or kind of cute and cheeky. But you want this to be a very clear description of your business of your offerings. You know who you are, what you do, what you sell so that people, when they land on your page, they very clearly understand what they're doing there. Now I'm gonna show you an example of my page in just a second. So don't worry. This is kind of confusing, but I want to show you the two different forms you can expect to see. So this is a form you see when converting your account pretty much same form, but it'll just be auto populated, so you'll go in and make any edits. But all of this you can change at any time, so I don't feel like I was showing you right here. The different business types, there's professional public figure media, you know, you might not know which one is an obvious choice for you. Just pick one that seems to make sense. You can always go back and change that later. And of course you want to actually put your website in this area. I'll be talking a little bit about verifying your site in just a moment. But you do want to put your website in this field so there's something on your profile that links to your page. Now, once you either create a business account or you convert an existing personal account to a business account, you'll be directed back to your page, where you will see these four props. And at any point, if you don't want to use thes, you can just click this little dismiss button below. But you do want to pay attention to these four prompts now the first thing is to verify your website. Now I want to take a deep breath of me just because this can actually be a little confusing and difficult. I actually had to contact my programmer to do this because it involves actually uploaded a file to your server. Now, I know we've got a lot of Smarties in this course, and you probably are like, Oh, Melanie, that's no problem. I know how to upload a file to my server, So if you dio, you can actually verify your website, and this will allow you to have a big link at the top of your page with a big check mark next to it because you've verified it. So don't ask me why Pinterest wants you to verify your website. All I know is that once you have verified it by uploaded the file to your server and if you click this, it'll walk you through the instructions. You will have a big link and I'll show you that when we go to my page in just a second. But you don't have to do this. And what I recommend is if you don't understand how to do this, either contact you're hosting or contact your programmer or graphic designer. Whoever actually helped you create your site, they will probably know how to do this. And it's something that when you know how to do it. It should take less than five minutes to actually do. It's not a really big lawn long, drawn out thing, but you have to know how to upload something to your server, which I personally didn't know how to dio. Now you also have this start pinning right here. Now this is very important because this will give you. If you click this, it will give you the little pendant button that you can add to your browser. So you click and drag it, and you just add it to, you know, safari or Firefox or chrome's whatever you use. And it allow you to pin things from any site so it allow you to pend videos when you're on YouTube or on a page with a video. It will also allow you to pin any image when there's not a pennant button already on that paid. So this is really great. You want to click this and add the pin it button to your bookmarklet so that you can pin things from all across the web. It will also make it easy to pin things off of your site, even if you don't have a pin it button now, speaking of that little pennant button, this is where you can click and actually get the pin it button and the code you need to add it to your site to put below any video or any image or product. You can get that by clicking right here and also the follow button. So this is something that you would want to put in the header or the footer of your site that invites people to follow you on Pinterest, and we'll let them link directly to your account.

What an incredible amount of GREAT information that Melanie gives in this course! I couldn't watch it all live, but I saw enough in about 30 minutes to know I had to have it and so I bought it and it is worth EVERY PENNY! I can't wait to start utilizing all the great info to make my Pinterest boards work for me and have more fun pinning! Thank you CreativeLive and Melanie!

So glad I saw this and got it to keep. With just a few tweaks, I turned my non-active boards into active boards and quadrupled my followers in just a few days. This spilled over into site traffic AND major lead generation for my mailing list. Thanks for the inspiration, Melanie.
