Bonus Video With Purchase: How to Create Boards

in this video, you're going to learn how to create boards and your boards, or what store all of your pins. Every pin has to be assigned to a certain board. Now, when you come to your profile page, you'll see AH, collection of any boards. If you've already made them and there's a couple way to add additional boards, the first way is you can actually click. Create aboard when you are on your profile page and you simply select there and you will be able to type in the name of your board. So maybe it's going to be food you be able to type in your description. This is where you also want to use keywords when you are creating boards. The business. Now you can notice that on my business pages my page, wry self services and coaching. I have used particular boards that are based around my business. I have one that just house all my blawg post. I have one ripe in all of my YouTube videos. I have a board that showcases speaking, and I have done share some great tools and things that really add va...

lue to my audience, like creating I'm a board full of infographics and great information so you can see all the different types of boards you might have. It's a business owner. This one has recommended products and services. This highlights one of my courses. I've got a contributor board here that will be talking about in just a moment and also some press. I've got boards about me books. I like style inspiring quotes so you can start wrapping your brain around different boards that you would create as a business owner. Now, additionally, I could look at one of my business boards for my product based business luxury monograms. So if I was to look for luxury monograms right here, you'd be able to see I have a Pinterest contest board. I have different trending boards around certain topics like Thanksgiving on because we sell monograms. I have a board full of different types of monogram products so you can go in here and see. I've got a mix of both our own products from luxury monograms and other monogram products from different stores and blog's and sites online. So just trying to get your brain, you know, creative juices flowing about the different types of boards to create these highlight. One of our most popular categories are monogram throw pillows. I've also shown are different products in context, with different things. We sell like, uh, wedding gifts, bridal shower. A lot of people give our items as gifts to people. So I've been the same thing and penned a bunch of our products that you could give his gifts along with things you could give with those things, like a candle, like a linen spray monogrammed napkin rings that are from other stores online. So lots of different ideas that you can use as a business owner for types of boards to create on your business page. But let's go back and talk about creating that board. So you want to have your description, have your keywords, anything that's relevant and searchable in this area. You're gonna want to select a category as well. Now, this is not that important. So don't this get you too hung up? Um, you know, worst comes to worst. You can always select other, but try to select some sort of category that makes sense the context of your board. Now you will have the option to do a secret board and a secret board is whether or not you want this board to be shown publicly. Now, if you select yes, I want to let you know you Onley have three secret boards, which means you can go back at one time and make it public, and then you'll have another board freed up. But you could only have a total of three boards at any time. And when you scroll to the very bottom, that's where you'll see your secret boards and secret boards. Air. Really great. If you want to maybe work on a board before you publish it live. Or if you want to have a special board, you know that you Onley show or give access to your V, I. P. S or things like that. So you can also click here toe. Learn more about secret boards. So going back to our profile page, we've talked about adding a board despite clicking right there. You can also when you go to the top and see this, plus, you can select create a board from here as well. So it's an additional way to create a board. And whenever you are pinning something say I was to go to the home page of my sight, and I wanted to pin something again. In this drop down, you'll have an option if you want to create a new board there. So about three different ways that you can create a board again, really focusing on using keywords and titling your board strategically. So using keywords, whether you sell real estate or your local any words that you would want to be found on search on Pinterest or on Google or Yahoo are being you want to title your board, including those keywords, and use them as much as possible and the description of your board on. Then I want to show you, actually, so when you click on one of your boards, I'm going to blawg posts. You do have an option to add a description right there. And so if you have boards that don't have descriptions yet, you can simply go to the board page Select Edit Board, And this is where you can go in and add a description to your board. If you don't have one yet, so anything you need to do to actually edit your board, you can change the title of it here, you can go in and actually add your description. Change your category. All of this is always edit table, but I want to show you this in particular. And as far as I know right now, sometimes Pinterest changes its around a little bit. But right now, the only way to add contributors to your board is in this area by selecting edit board while you're on the board page. And now when you're doing this, you can actually add people who can pin to this page what's known as a contributor board, and you need to be following them first. At least right now, that's the rule. So anyone you're following you can actually type in their Pinterest name or their email and send them an invitation to be able to pin to this board. Now it's kind of cool you've seen that I've done. I've actually added to my account so I can pin to this board whether I'm logged in as my personal account or whether I'm logged in as my business account. So this is nice if you want to kind of move between different accounts but don't want to have to keep logging in and logging out. You can do that simply just by adding yourself as a contributor to your own boards. But this is also a great strategy you can use to invite other peers, friends, employees, assistance. And, like we were talking about those secret boards, you can actually add V I. P clients. You could add a select member of people you coach, or, you know, any sort of graphic designers anything like that. You could add them to be able to pin to your secret board, so that would be a private board that you two could kind of brainstorm and collaborate on. So, as you can see you can, I'm select if you wanna have email notifications and get an email when someone pins to the board, or if you want to delete that board once and for all. And after you've made any changes, you always just want to select save changes toe have all of those changes applied. So there you go. You now know how to create boards and some master strategies, like adding contributors and doing keyword optimization. One last strategy. I really want you to be aware of when it comes to setting up your boards is optimizing your cover photos, and your cover photos are just this main image that you see on top of every single one of your boards. Now a lot of people will not set a cover photo, so it constantly updates to the most recent thing that has been pent. And that's definitely one strategy if you want your boards to constantly be updating your page to be looking really fresh. But what I suggest is actually making sure that you set cover photos because sometimes default cover photos don't look very good. Like let me see if I've got a neon here. But maybe you know something like this, like it's not really you know. It's not size properly. It's not really laid out. There's no teaser texts, which, you know I'm a big fan of. So what I recommend doing is either creating custom images for your cover photo and just pinning them to your board and then setting them. Or you can choose just click, change cover and you can actually choose from any of the pins on this board. You can scroll back and forth and choose from any of these and set the most appropriate or the most optimized one to be that cover photo. Now we do find, if your personal brand actually selecting one where you are in the picture is very successful, so I might go through here and find one like this. I also highly encourage you to have some sort of text because it just gives people a little bit of teaser, a little bit of curiosity spike. So they actually clicked through onto the board to die gesture content. So setting cover photos is a great way to optimize your account. One business in big particular country living does a really fun thing. I'm going to show you where they actually have optimized a lot of their boards with little title boards so you can see their cover photos have great title boards where they're saying 97 plus grilling recipes or, you know, easy and front craft project. So they're actually using the title of their board in their main cover photo, so it's a great way to make a really professional looking page. I mean, look at how great this looks, and it's a great way to they've kind of done a mash up of some of the pins on that board, and we'll be showing you how to create cover photos like this in a later module. But it's very, very easy to go ahead and just make sure you've optimized your cover photos and any time to go back to your boards. You just go to the top right boards, and you're also able to drag these into any sort of sequence. You want the top two rows air gonna have the most amount of visibility on your page. So if you've got something really good, you want to click and drag it up to the top to rearrange the order of your boards. So there you haven't different ways to create boards and optimize them on your page.

So glad I saw this and got it to keep. With just a few tweaks, I turned my non-active boards into active boards and quadrupled my followers in just a few days. This spilled over into site traffic AND major lead generation for my mailing list. Thanks for the inspiration, Melanie.
