YouTube® Analytics

like great friends who have been blogging for a long time, and I don't even know their stats or anything. I think people are very like private. It's like asking what your weight is or your broth eyes. You just You just don't want to do it. But I like to just kind of make it relatable and again, the other exciting. Like I don't even notice this when I come to this page right? What I pay attention to is how many new subscribers do I have? Is it more or less than last time? And my, Am I getting more or less like than the last month, or how is my progress doing? Am I getting more views or less fuse? Um, and you can go in here and click on your subscribers, and it will tell you Okay, I had a big dip around the Fourth of July shocker. People are not. They're having fun and having a good time. I had some spikes, hopefully from our creative life viewers, and I mean you can follow along. Usually, I can always see Spike Sundays that I post new content. Or maybe I was at a conference and people w...

ere talking about me and they were interested like, Oh, she's on YouTube. I want to see what she does. These are all I mean, there Look, a This whole sidebar right here. This is all different analytics. So, for example, let's say we could go back. Teoh. Um okay, I will use. Remember the next makeup tutorial that I did. So I submitted that video literally midnight the day that it was cut off. And I just wanted to do it because one, I use their products like crazy too. I hadn't done a makeup video forever. People were requesting him like crazy. So it was killing two birds with one stone. If next even maybe found out who I was. Great. So I didn't make the cut like they narrow it down from, like, 20,000 people. That 30. Anything that cut, it was fine. There's no way would have had time to do it. But I was able to go into this next video and see OK. Did they even watch it? He was want to see how I knew if they did or didn't. Hey, guys, what's up? Were hit here today with a very So when you go to a page and this is really exciting because you can actually creep on other you tubers and say, Hey, what are they doing? I have mine turned off. But if you were to go to this since I'm log in to mine, you can see I can go to the statistics and you can see how many subscribers they go. I got 51 subscribers from this video, which is high for me. Usually I get, like, four here, 10 there. Sometimes when I do sentimental videos, I'll lose followers because people don't like the feelings on and it will show me how many How many 35 days. That's how long people, how many hours people have watched my video on. And it's been shared twice within YouTube embedded Smith sharing outside on Pinterest and that sort of thing, and 16,000 over 16,000 people have watched it. You can get into view more stats, and this will tell you when and where people are dropping in and off on your on your video, and we're gonna go over here to play back locations. So this is where it gets really exciting where he'd say, Oh my goodness, I was I like the pixie thing became trendy because all those top 20 hairstyles for 2015 there's hundreds of these websites and they're mostly spanning content with, like a few celebrities and a few random people like me that they just throw in there. And fortunately for me, they also kindly throw in my link and sends them to my page or send them to my video. And so, um, I'm able to find that out by coming into my analytics. So I'm gonna go toe playback locations. I'm inside. And to be specific, I'm inside a very specific video. So it's telling me the playback, the location on this video, not my whole channel or all my videos. So this is kind of, you know, again, I can see I had 462 views on this day, and so on this video. So YouTube watch page means they were on the YouTube platform, and that's where they watched it embedded in an external website and app. So that's where I want to go, because when I applied for this little competition, I had to embed the link into a Web form. So I knew that it was a specific link that people were clicking on. I'm gonna go into this embedded external link. I copied and pasted the link outside of my channel. So this is where a pasted link. Right? So I'm gonna go ahead and click on that. And this is gonna tell me the last 28 days because that's what the parameters I've had so somewhere like people. I mean, they're working with sponsors from all over the world. I mean, Loreal Paris has Swedish and so on and so forth. So that's why you're seeing Colombia and so on so forth. Let's change the dates here so you can see the time frame of when I did this. Okay, I'm trying to remember when I did this June 8th. I think we'll just go in June. And isn't this fun that you can get so specific? I mean, I can spend a lot of time just being like I wonder what happened here. Hold on a second and my link off a month, Maybe it was May I don't even know. Maybe it was a while ago makes um Oh, thank you. That was a while ago. Okay, So we will keep it within two Popes and can't do that. They're gonna just picking days. So this is where it gets interesting because the cut off was May 8. That's when we're gonna watch your video, and I'm going to kind of throw shade and next just because I know make people happy, but they instagrammed the top 30 and they're like, Oh, it was so hard to pick. We watched every single one of your videos. You guys, they're so talented. But the's air atop 30. Well, then, all these people who didn't get picked start doing rant Blog's, That's a thing. And they're like, I'm so mad a next. I spent all this time making this video and people spend weeks planning, plotting, buying, practicing, recording, editing these videos, air crazy over the top. Mine was very not, like moderate compared to what people dio And so I was like, Oh, my goodness, I didn't even check to see if they watched. And I mean, I'm just gonna nobody from Nick's call me. So this is how I am, like interpreting what happened. So I posed May video probably ah, 100,000 other people posted that last day at the very last minute, and they just didn't get to it. And then later they pass out these links there, available to all the brands and sponsors that they're working with for to put on this big competition. Somebody sees it on, Let's see, with Data's the 12th and they're like, Oh, maybe they watch. I can even go to the 12 and see how long How much time they watched the video? So one person in Mexico watched it and they watched one minute and 11 seconds of it. And one person in the United States almost watched the whole, the whole thing. They watched seven minutes and 52 seconds. So my guess is they told somebody else because then right away, uh, go back. There's this big spike where, I mean for this very specific video, right? I'm loving your space. When is over here like that's how I feel about this, that you confine tune, and I mean, if you really get in there, that's why people, Donny, because they're willing to take the time to go in here so I can see that after that one person in the US or that one person in Mexico saw the video on the instantly 40 people saw and or an estimate of 40 minutes were watched. 17 people in the U. S. And seven people in Mexico and then Canada and on and on and on. So I don't know if it was on an email or what. Very weird, that within those 23 days, a bunch of people from that very specifically that was the only way that they could have gotten it was from this competition thought. And coincidentally, since then, I have been getting care packages all over the place from massive brands that I am just so tickled to work with. And so guess why I didn't get into a competition. But I sent a message that I want to work with brands, and I'm not afraid to go do something crazy, like connect the dots on my face and try and be like Madonna. So and people want to see that that you're okay with him in that. So do I need to, like, take a minute and just let it marinate? Or can I just keep going because I geek out over this stuff. Everybody Do you know what that's like? Okay, so that is just one little tab of one video. You can get micro laser focused on your analytics and use it to your advantage.

I enjoyed the class and learned many useful things I didn't know before. There are changes I would suggest. Too much time was spent viewing and critiquing existing videos. Demonstrating one (or more) of the free editing programs would be more helpful for beginners than showing how to use an expensive paid software. The information on selecting keywords should come earlier in the program (and SEO needs to be explained for those who don't know what it is and why it matters). More time should be devoted to editing info. More time should also be spent on the whole uploading process and on monetizing videos (and the benefits of doing that). Whippy is charming and knowledgeable but she had a tendency to get sidetracked on her own agenda (like searching for exactly when a company viewed her contest video). A general comment - it was hard to spend two full consecutive days watching this. I'm glad it fit my schedule but that was just lucky.

Well worth the time if you want to add videos to your business mix and don't know how to get started. Becki knows her stuff and makes each step easy to grasp, even for non-techies. I love her keep-it-simple approach and her positive outlook. The content was solid. Her delivery made it fun to learn.

Absolutely fabulous! Tons of down-to-earth info on YouTube, recording a video, editing a video, working within the parameters of YouTube's functionality, and much more. Whippy is knowledgeable and experienced. She shares her knowledge willingly, with humor, compassion, and integrity. It's the best course I've seen on CreativeLive, and I've seen many.
